    3. Hello everyone. I tried to forward the following message to the list twice, but apparently it hasn't gone through. I am sending it now. I'm sorry that I wasn't able to pass on the news in a more timely fashion. This is a milestone in Norwood genealogy. > > Dear Dick Norwood, > > Joy Shaver has suggested I should write to tell you that Marion Callam died last Tuesday, 14th. 3. Kitty, I visited your web site, but could not find more details on John Norwood the father of Andrew Norwood. You also list those families which were related but make no mention of Howard Family. Andrew Norwood Sr. married Elizabeth Howard daughter of Cornelius Howard Sr. I have several reasons for my interest in Norwood Family, I wanted to see if there were other connections to other families I'm familiar with. Your web page mentions Boetler. I'm a Combs researcher and it seems anyone I study related to them leads me to several other Surnames related. Boetler, Upton, Archdale, Alvey, Clarke, Sisson, Roe, Gorsuch, Todd, Thacker, etc. I suspect because of the Norwood/Boetler marriage there will be further connections. I'm currently studying Cornelius Howard Sr. of Ann Arrundel County, who came from Norfolk County, Virginia, did the Norwoods come from Norfolk County, Virginia also? >http://www.geocities.com/~rnorwood/tnfpexp.htm ><http://www.geocities.com/%7Ernorwood/tnfpexp.htm> > >What is your interest in this line? I'm trying to find more concerning an Andrew Norwood who apparently married a Elizabeth Howard daughter of Cornelius Howard Sr. and wife Elizabeth ? I believe Andrew Norwood had brothers Samuel Norwood and a John Norwood. Let me know if you recognize these Norwood's.

    3. These are my great great grandparents: Norwood, Margaret 12/09/1842 05/18/1918 Norwood, J. W. 05/25/1837 06/01/1910 They are buried in: New Hope Baptist Church and Cemetery, Natchez, Monroe Co., Alabama. Today I recieved a "Failure to Find" on a death certificate that I ordered for John W. Norwood. This John Norwood is on the 1850 census with his parents: John Norwood and Mary (?). He is on the 1870 census with his wife Margaret (HALL?). if he died in 1910, there should be a death record for him, but one can not be found. Does anyone have any death information on this John W. NORWOOD? Or have any idea where I might find a death record for him? Thank you. Vonda Norwood Miller

    3. Hello NORWOOD cousins and researchers. My name is Vonda Norwood Miller. Born in Alabama, but raised in California and who's Norwood ancestors landed in Monroe Co., Alabama a short time after 1800. From S.C. . On an 1840 Census Index of Monroe Co., AL I found a John NORWOOD. He just might be my ggg grandfather. My gg grandfather is John Washington NORWOOD b.1837 in Monroe Co., AL . Does anyone have any information on this particular John NORWOOD?: 1840 US Census Index, Monroe, Alabama Norwood, John 239 It would help me to know his age and wife's name. If he had a son who was abt. 3 years old in 1840. I'd also like to know if anyone might think that I am on the wrong track here. I am open minded. I might think that I have the correct info', but don't mind being proven wrong. I want to get to know who my ancestors really were. Thank you very much. Vonda

    1. Web Site Update: NORWOOD Connections
    2. icefox
    3. Happy New Year! Just thought I'd drop everyone a note to let you all know that I updated the web site today. Nothing really earth-shattering to report but I did go through most of the family pages under Nebraska and the Mid-Atlantic Colonies/States to add some dates and locations where I'd found them. As always, those pages with major changes have been marked as new on the index pages. NEBRASKA Updated info on Phebe, Richard, Sally, Frances I thought I'd already updated the page for George W. Norwood with the info I'd received from the family plus what I'd been able to further research, but apparently it never made it to the web site. Hopefully, the upload should now agree with what my database shows. MID-ATLANTIC Added info on Alice Updated info on Richard, Cornelius, Elizabeth, Anna For awhile now I've been dissatisfied with the display of some of the info on the web site. This would include mostly those pages that contain Norwood info that is known not to be related to our family line or those that may be related but for whom a concrete connection has yet to be found. So I've decided to try something else. Today I started putting some of the info I have gathered over the years on to the WorldConnect Project on rootsweb.com. I'll be proceeding slowly to see how I like working with this system, so don't be looking for a complete dump of any of my databases. But I'm hoping that I'll like this method better as a means of eventual dissemination for the majority of the info in at least one of my databases. The first family I've decided to add to the project is for the Andrew Norwood we find in Illinois in the late 1800s who was born in New Jersey. This is a very small family grouping of only 15 people but I felt it a good starting point. I believe this family to be connected to one of the larger New Jersey based trees I'm researching, I just haven't figured out which one yet. Since the project is reported to reach a great number of people every week, I'm hoping that we can find an actual descendant with the missing info we need to connect this Andrew to his family line. I've also been spending a great deal of time lately gathering info on the Andrew S. Norwood line. This has resulted in a gen report that I think may be too unwieldy to put on a single web page anymore. At first I thought about breaking it up into separate pages but the time that would take for updates just doesn't appear to be workable. I feel it's just taking me too long to get this info out to the people who want to work with it further. I'm now thinking along the lines of a combined effect between a web page and the WorldConnect Project. Stay tuned for further developments on this. TAFN! I have been helping my future brother-in-law with his genealogy. He is a desc. of Capt. John Norwood of Maryland (4 times!) I've done some research on trying to figure out who Anne Harrington Norwood's parents are and I believe they are James Harington, Baronet, and Frances Sapcote. The key reason I believe this is that John Norwood's sister, Frances, married John Harington (son of James Harington and Frances Sapcote) and also immigrated to Maryland. This is what I believe to be Anne's line of descent: James Harington and Lucy Sidney (of the famous Sidney family) had the following children: 1. James Harington (of whom further) 2. Henry Harington 3. Elizabeth Harington m. Edward Montague 4. Sarah Harington, m. Francis Hastings 5. John Harington 6. Catherine Harington, m. Edward Dymoke 7. Mabel Harington, m. Andrew Noel 8. 1. Francis Norwood research, Mass.
    2. Dear friends and family, Jim Dempsey and I have been doing research on Francis Norwood and other related early Gloucester people and their families. We have been focusing on Christine Hyerman's theory that Francis was a Quaker. So far, we have found that second son Francis was a Quaker and daugher Elizabeth, who married John Potter. Jim recently found a record in the Narragansett Monthly Meeting in Providence of the marriage of Joshua Norwood to Sarah Aldrich, which indicates that Joshua Norwood, Sr. and family may have been Quakers as well, giving us three out of ten of Francis Norwood, Sr.'s children practising Quakers at some point in their lives. Jim and I with most Maine Norwoods are descendants of Joshua Norwood and Sarah Aldrich (we are son Solomon's descendants) and would like to learn more about Sarah Aldrich and her family. One possible way to find out about her would be through the minutes of the meeting in which she and Joshua were married. If anyone lives near Providence, RI and could get to the Quaker records there to read the minutes, it would be a big help, and we are asking for a volunteer. Otherwise, we have been combing the Essex County Court records (Mass.) for all that we can find out about Francis and his neighbors. From what we have read so far, it would appear that the cluster of families in the Goose Cove/Long Cove area near Annisquam was characterized by dissent from the local authorities, including the Congregational establishment, and the King after the restoration. Singularly, so far, Francis Norwood and family never appear in the court cases. We wonder why. Left to read are many records between 1663 and 1709 that would be of interest to us. The ultimate goal of our research is to find Francis Norwood's English origins; however, this has proven to be elusive. We are still trying. Collateral goals are to flesh out the family by learning more about their beliefs and business and the families they intermarried with. The Quaker theory has stronger evidence now and is interesting for being new information--or at least overlooked. Any help anyone can offer would be deeply appreciated. It would be great to involve more of our cousins in this work. Thanks for your "ear". Dick Norwood http://www.geocities.com/~rnorwood/tnfpexp.htm
