Looking for info on SUSANNAH NORWOOD and her husband JOSEPH CLARK Does anyone have anything new that is not on the net. there are so much bad info there. I would like to talk to anyone that has done research themself instead of copying what is one the net. After 30+ years of research I still have not found out where Joseph Clark is from and when he married Susannah Norwood. Thomas Norwood born abt. 1844 in Tennessee. Moses born abt. 1846 in Tennessee, were the son's of Peter A. Norwood and wife ( unknown) Peter A. Norwood had migrated from Northampton, NC into Tennessee with his sister, Mary E. Norwood and her husband John Mangum Branch. It is not known if Peter married while in NC or if he married in TN. Peter and Mary E. Norwood are the children of Moses Norwood and Penelope. Thomas and Moses, the son's were raised by Mary E. Norwood Branch and her husband John Mangum Branch. Peter A. Norwood would marry the second time to Eliza Johnson. They spent the rest of their life in Panola County, MS Peter died in 1872 and is buried in Terza Methodist Church Cemetery. Eliza and her two eldest children would sell the farm and move the entire family to Arkansas. Two sons, William Mack Norwood and Dan Richard Norwood will return to Panola County and spend their life there. I am seeking ANY information on Thomas and Moses Norwood. Hello Mr. Norwood: I don't know if there are any living Norwood males that would be interested in the DNA process or not but will be happy to contact some folks and see if they can be persuaded. My husband recently did the DNA testing for his line and we were amazed at the results. In fact it proved a line they had been struggling with for some time. I do thank Mr. Jim Norwood for his input. I have one small article about Peter A. Norwood that was taken from a County History book. I do know that Mary E. Norwood was born to Moses Norwood and his wife in 1816...or it could have been 1815, depending on when the Census was taken. The Funeral Papers that I obtained from the Sexton of the Cemetery in Fort smith Arkansas said she was 69 when she died and that was in October of 1885. Mary E. Norwood married JOHN MANGRUM BRANCH September 24, 1838 in Northampton, NC. They would have two children while in NC. LITTLEBURG H .C. BRANCH b. 1839, Northampton, NC,( sometimes this name is states as LITTLEBERRY ). John Harrison Branch June 15, 1841, Northampton, NC. They would migrate into Tennessee where two daughters are born to the marriage. Mary " Mollie" Branch 1945 TN., and Martha " Mattie" Branch, 1849. TN.. An interesting note : The brother of Mary E. Norwood Branch, PETER A. NORWOOD, also migrated into TN. with John M. and Mary . He would marry, his FIRST wife, sometime before 1844. Her name and the status of that marriage is unknown. .Perhaps she died in childbirth in 1846? Perhaps she didn't? There were two sons given to this marriage. Thomas Norwood born 1844 TN. and Moses born 1846 TN. When Peter A. Norwood migrated into Panola County MS. the two sons were living with him with help from his sister, Mary. When Peter A. Norwood married Eliza Johnson, his two sons spent more and more time in the John Branch home . Eventually they were raised by John M. Branch and Mary E. Norwood Branch. Peter Norwood and Eliza Johnson would have six children, all born in or near Sardis, Panola County Mississippi.. John W. Norwood b. 1855 Peter A. Norwood, Jr. 1856, William Mack Norwood March 4, 1857, Dan Richard Norwood November 15, 1862, Martha Norwood, 1863 and Sarah Norwood, 1865. Peter Norwood died in 1872. He is buried in the Terza Methodist Church Cemetery in the Terza community where his far was. Eliza , with her two eldest sons would sell the farm and take the family into Arkansas. William Mach and Dan Richard would eventually return to Panola County, marry and raise their families. Thomas Norwood, eldest son by the first marriage of Peter A. Norwood would migrate into TN with Mary E. Norwood and her family. He later will go on his on. We have not found either of Peter Norwood's sons by the first marriage since that 1850 date. By 1850 John Mangum Branch and his family are in Sardis, Panola County, MS On May 2, 1856 the family would welcome daughter Margaret Albina Branch. The Branch family made it through the Civil War but not without incident. Son Littleburg Branch was a casualty of the war while son John Harrison Branch lost a leg at Vicksburg. Two daughters, Mary Branch and Martha Branch died in 1864 of a Typhoid epidemic. John Harrison Branch returned Hattie Mariah Harrison Pollard in 1868. The marriage would produce nine children. Mary E. Norwood Branch would move from Panola County MS. with her daughter Margaret a. Branch and her son in law, George Washington Edwards, into Arkansas in 1877. They would reside in Paris, Arkansas and later move into Fort Smith, Arkansas where she would die.. The Edwards family would continue into Texas and ultimately Oklahoma where they would live until the death of George Washington Edwards in 1927. In 1934 Margaret Branch Edwards moved into Texas with her daughter and grandchildren. She died in Grayson County in January, 1941. Thank you for your help. JoRetta Lewis -----
