That's why I said "apparently" these were her parents names. I've seen it reported several places as Lydia Jordan, but like I mentioned, you can't believe everything someone else tells you about a family line. Got to do your own research. And I'm not sure age has much to do with not remembering names. I'm in my forties and some days I feel pretty good if I can remember my own name, let alone anyone else's! :) Irene

    3. You may want to try going to http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com and putting in your grand-parents or great grand-parents names and see what comes up. Just DON'T BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU READ. I've found some real whopper of mistakes on this website so you still have to verify everything by talking with your family and doing some research. It can however be a great place to start and give you other people to email that may be related to your same family lines. Just remember to maintain a healthy amount of skepticism and have fun. 3. Hi Zach: My Great-Great Grandmother was a Norwood. she was born in Northampton County ,North Carolina , about 1816...a Long, long time ago. I would suggest you talk to your parents, grandparents...elderly aunts or uncles. Have your pencil and paper handy. Write your name first...under that, your parents, under them, your grandparents.. Keep writing the names of all the" ancestors" you can Ask the person your are talking to.. if they know the birth dates of these ancestors. Maybe a look at your Family Bible will give you some names. Knowing the part of the country they come from is also helpful. Keep in mind that just because they were born in one State. .they may not have lived there all their lives. That Great Great Grandmother I mentioned above...she moved to Tennessee in the late 1840's and was living in Sardis, Panola County, Mississippi by the early 1850's My Great Grandmother was born in Mississippi in 1857...her name was not Norwood.. it was Branch. . The ladies marry and their name changes...so they are harder to follow. My GG Grandmother was buried in Ft. Smith , Arkansas. The Great Grandmother passed on in Denison, Texas and was buried in Troy, Oklahoma. Seems our ancestors really get around.. and there were no cars then.... Once you get some notes on paper, get back on the internet...I am sure there are bunches of folks that can help you along. Genealogy is such an interesting hobby. I hated History when I was in school...but now, my ancestors have revived my interest as they fought in every battle we have ever fought, crossed stormy seas, plowed rocky ground, ran for political office and even got hung in a lynching. I am sure you will enjoy learning about your ancestors . 3. Hi Zachary - My middle name is Norwood - and I do Norwood genealogy for my family. It's going to be very helpful if you tell us where you live (just the city or county and state) and anything you know about your family. For instance, most of the people on this list are in the south. If you are one of the southern Norwoods, you're in luck because there are a lot of them. My Norwoods were in New York and included a lot of the early Dutch settlers in the family tree. Other Norwood families are in New England. So if you can tell us as much as possible about your family - not personally, just dates and places with names for very old people - we will all help you as much as we can.
