    1. Re: [NOR] Minneapolis, MN obituary from 1921 - and Sioux Falls, SD obituary from 1938 - help please?

    3. Lars, I am sending the following things which I came across just in case you haven't already seen them. In the 1895 Minnesota census Herbert is living with his fatherand family and is shown as being 13 and born in Minnesota. On March 9, 1901 Herbert enlisted in the Army and gave his birth place as Minneapolis and his age as 21 according to the US Army Register of Enlistments. In 1914 he and Luella are living in Sioux Falls, South Dakota according to the City Directory. In 1915 there is a Herbert L Carroll living in South Dakota that was born in 1882 in Michigan whose father was born in New York. DeForest was born in New York. The census shows him as married. I found Luella living in Minneapolis in 1936 in the City Directory. She is listed as being the Widow of Herbert L, clerk for Soo Line, living at 2531 Jackson. May not mean she was really a widow as many times I've seen separated or divorced women calling themselves "widows". I, like you, can't find Herbert anywhere after 1915.
