Lars, Here is John Bateson's obituary. http://www.sfgenealogy.com/boards/mcobits/messages/15847.html Marin Independent Journal Sunday, September 26, 1993 John Bateson Retired banker John Bateson of San Rafael, a retired vice president for Bank of America, died Thursday, Sept. 23, 1993, at home. He was 74. Mr. Bateson was raised in New York, He had lived in San Rafael for 38 years. He was a standout athlete in high school, earning letters in four sports, and went to the University of Idaho on a football scholarship. His studies were interrupted by World War II, when he serves as a first lieutenant. After the war, he returned to school at the University of California at Berkeley, eventually earning a master’s degree in business administration. Mr. Bateson worked as a certified public accountant for several years at Arthur Andersen & Co. before joining Bank of America. He was a vice president with the bank for 27 years. He served several years on the board of directors for the Family Service Agency of Marin. Mr. Bateson also was a volunteer with the Executive Service Corps and coached Little League baseball when his sons were young. Mr. Bateson enjoyed golf. Survivors are his wife of 47 years, Helen Bateson of San Rafael; two sons, John Bateson of San Rafael and Will Bateson of Livermore; two daughters, Gail Bateson of Berkeley and Betsy Templeton of San Carlos; and seven grandchildren. A memorial service is being planned for next week. Burial will be private at Mount Tamalpais Cemetery in San Rafael. The family prefers memorial donations to Family Service Agency of Marin or a favorite charity. Here is a Gail V. Bateson.
