Thank you for the extra help Rod. She will be thrilled to make one more step. Class is over now but every week, the older the records esp. the chronological ones, the more difficult it gets. She'll be gone for two weeks but I'll email her this morning with the news. I'm enjoying my 6:00am coffee a little more this lovely Saturday morning knowing that we got that bit nailed down. Thank you [email protected] It's hard enough to understand Norwegian but when I can't even read the writing!!!! I didn't think to scroll above for a date - I thought it was buried among the chicken scratch! ha Halvor, I will have both my students join becausethe more I look at the link the better it looks! Reina - I forgot all about that Source link from years ago. Thank you so much for sharing that with me/us. Who would think that a town in Pacifica, as far west in the US as you can go would have 4 Norwegian Americans coming to a Senior Genealogy Class with someone who happens to have some experience (and who is 72%Scandinavian herself) but better still she knows who to call, you all!!! I get help from Tom Standal too on FB but I don't want to burn him out. And Kneel, if you're reading, lo and behold, I actually got to do some work on my own family for a change and thank you again for the Inner Sogn data base since part of my family is in there. It's amazing how since we have so many lines some of them, get away. I thought I'd put my sources in, so I can use your dates and jump to the parish records! It seems to be an adaptation of the Norgeskart map site, only with the parish map you have the option of showing the parish boundaries with the inserted right menu (which can be reduced or expanded), and you can search for a farm with the menu on the left (which can also be reduced, then clicked back to full view again). Experiment by clicking and unclicking the boxes in the right menu to see what I mean. http://www.norgeskart.no/ Whichever site you use, as always, Zoom is your friend, as is Windows/PrtScr to make a screen shot of the map - re-name it, crop off the edges in your Paint (or other graphic) program, you have a nice graphic to go with your genealogy images and you can see exactly where your ancestors lived in relation to other farm names in the area. ;-) Okay, so I'm a map freak and I have a special file just for maps.... :-) Beste, Bev On 4/28/2017 2:47 PM, Cliff Magnussen wrote: > I just ran across this on another site, someone has made a map of all the parish?s and farms in > Norway , I found it very easy to use an will be a great help if someone wants to find what > Parish?s are in what county, ENJOY!!!! > > http://norwayparishes.com/ > > ------------------------------ Message: 2 Date: Fri, 28 Apr 2017 19:34:39 -0400 From: Stephanie Bolster Benoit <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [NOR] Help with birth record Message-ID: <[email protected]> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=utf-8 Thanks Rod, When I went back to the baptism record, I could read the parents' names and the farm name magically! I have access to the Grue bygdeb?ker and can look at the Lundbye farm to see if the family is mentioned and any other information it may have there. Do you know if he has a spouse? We found this guy at https://media.digitalarkivet.no/view/9151/49 on the right side of the page and I wondered if that might be him. I believe the man's parents are Ole Rejersen and Marie Nielsdtr. based on the 1801 census at https://digitalarkivet.arkivverket.no/ft/person/pf01058241003359. Any other sources for this area that she can use? I have another student who has Grue roots too. Thank you so much as always, Stephanie ------------------------------ Subject: Digest Footer To contact the NORWAY list administrator, send an email to [email protected] To post a message to the NORWAY mailing list, send an email to [email protected] __________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word "unsubscribe" without the quotes in the subject and the body of the email with no additional text. ------------------------------ End of NORWAY Digest, Vol 12, Issue 135 ***************************************
