I highly recommend this film as a way of seeing what a family faced at home i Sweden, on its at sea voyage and homesteading in Chisago, Minnesota. Excellent performances by Max Von Sydow and Liv Ulman. It is 4+ hours long so plan to view it over two or more days. I borrowed it from the local library in Tucson. The film implied that it was based on the story of a real family headed by Karl Oscar Nilsson. It is an old film and likely that many of you have already seen it. Norman Johnsen
