Linda - Does FTM have a Cause of Death category? Or a Medical category? In my Reunion 7 program (Reunion only works in Macs), there is a pre-programmed Cause of Death. The Medical category is there and one can add it or not, as one sees fit. When I listed the various medical issues I've had through the years I put each one under a Medical heading, starting with my first hospitalization through to the most recent ablation and pacemaker procedures in Nov last year (I am now completely pacemaker dependent and have a monitor for my pacemaker), complete with dates. If you have a Medical category, I'd recommend putting the Alzheimer's diagnosis there (if it's official). If it's included as a contributory Cause of Death on the death certificate (it sometimes is in the DCs I have, or, when the DCs are old enough enough from before the days of the Alzheimer's category, it generally lists senility - in one case an uncle-by-marriage had Lewy-Body dementia, similar to Alzheimer's but different, and I put that in the Medical category when my aunt told me about his official diagnosis). In Reunion one can also create new categories not listed, so when I saw Land Grants were not listed, I added that category, as well as Utflytting (dates are different from the day of embarkation at the seaport). I don't know much about FTM. I did have an older version on my first computer (now not in use), so I don't know if you can add categories or not. When I found FTM unsuitable (I couldn't make a web site with it, only add the info to where they wanted it to be) I just didn't use it except for the extra CDs that came with it. I don't know how the DNA info is listed since I've not done that yet, but if I ever do I'll just add the category in my Reunion program.
