This lady is giving me a hard time: Helvig Fredrikke Eriksdotter Natvig, born in Aardal Co., Norway Sep. 17, 1842, emigrated in 1863 to Columbia Co., WI where on July 25, 1863 she married Hans Monson, born in Laerdal Co., Norway Aug. 10, 1823. After several years of residing in Bristol township, Dane Co., WI the couple moved in the early 1870's to a farm in Clayton township, Mower Co., MN, but about 1883 they moved to North Ottawa township, Grant Co., MN where Hans died Jan. 6, 1894. On several occasions Helvig is called Helen Monson, but ** the 1900 census has her in North Ottawa township, Grant Co., MN as Helvig HANSON aged 60 residing as a widow with the Kirkeide family, and ** the 1905 census has her in Elk Lake township, Grant Co., MN as Helvig MENSON (ancestry’s interpretation!) aged 66 residing with Ole Torstenson family That’s the very last I see of her. I cannot see that her death is recorded in Grant Co., MN og anywhere else in MN, so what became of her? Any suggestions would be more than welcome!
