Dear Listers, For more than 30 years I have tried to figure out what happened to this young man from Hafslo parish in Luster County, Norway, but so far to no avail: Arne Hansson Urness born Aug. 7, 1839 Urness farm in Hafslo parish, Norway emigrated in 1861 to his brother Johannes «John» H. Residence: Black Earth, Dane County, Wisconsin. Civil War: Age 23. Enlisted for three years on 5 Jan 1864 at Madison, Wisconsin. Bounty $300, $120 still due at muster out. Private. Recruit. Joined his regiment on 20 Feb 1864; assigned to Company H the next day. Left sick at Little Rock, Arkansas, since 20 Mar 1864. Mustered out with company on 29 Aug 1865 at Brownsville, Texas. Could there be additional army records for him since he apparently had money due from the government on his Bounty??
