Dear Jerry and other Listers! Thank you very much, Jerry, for your latest message showing the Kins family in Griggs Co., ND in 1885. In the meantime I have talked to the Clerk of Court in Griggs Co., ND, and they found some interesting facts: Apparently Henry Peter came first, since he purchased land in Bartley township, Griggs Co., ND in January of 1883, then selling it to his father in 1884. Later he got the land back from his father! No probate records were found for Martha or Jens Kins in Griggs Co., ND, but then they made a statewide search, and they discovered that Jens Kins had homesteaded land in Malcolm township, McLean Co., ND, and there was a probate record for him there showing he died on Oct. 12, 1908. Unfortunately, this latter probate record doesn’t show Martha’s death date, but she obviously died in Griggs Co., ND between 1885 and 1898! Now, with this information, maybe an OBITUARY can be found for Jens Kins in McLean Co., ND? And again it might be an idea to check cemetery records in Griggs Co., ND?
