Dear Friends, I am looking for a date of death for Kari Hovland born 06 November 1809 on Hovland, part of the Naddvik gard just east of Ardal, Sognefjord, Norway. She was the wife of Hans Orbech Oysteinsson Hovland his dates are Birth 1809 • Aardal i Sogn, Norway Death 1851 • Naddvik, Sogn og Fjordane, Norway. In 1870 she emigrated with their daughter Maren Hanson Ørbech Hovland Birth 20 OCT 1835 • Aardal i Sogn, Norway Death 15 DEC.1882 • Union County South Dakota and Maren's husband, Ola Andersson Hereid Birth 24 DECEMBER 1835 • Aardal i Sogn, Norway Death 23 OCT 1906 • Union County South Dakota. Rollie, The state of South Dakota did not start keeping vital records until 1905. Some County level records were recorded before then, but I personally think if the dates are not on the gravestone this is going to be a hard pull. Early county records are kept by the state, but I do not see them as searchable. Here you will find contact information for any records held for Union County. I suggest contacting them. Perhaps they can find something for you. She was Maren Orbek Hansdatter, born on 20 October / baptized on 15 November 1835 in LAERDAL prgj. (Not Aardal), Sogn i Fjordane.
