Dear Listers! Maybe someone with extensive access to newspaper notices and obituaries can help me in this case: Ranveig Takvam (nee Urnes) born Mar. 15, 1899 in Bergen, Norway died May 7, 1937 somewhere in New York state possibly in Valley Stream, Nassau Co., NY Ranveig and her husband Olaf Takvam used to reside in Brooklyn, NY until shortly before she died. Olaf had a death announcement for Ranveig mailed to Norwegian newspapers in Bergen and Oslo, but he forgot to write WHERE Ranveig died and where she is buried!? I wound expect he must also have made an announcement in New York state, but can it be found? Thanks a million in advance for your great assistance in this matter! Very sincerely yours, Lars E. Oyane
Lars, On this site http://fultonhistory.com I put her name in the search field and got one match, but it was not an obit, just a column that said "In Memoriam" and listed several people who died on May 7 in different years. It just says Ranveig Takvam of Valley Stream, May 7, 1932. Genealogybank did not get any hits. Her petition for naturalization is on Fold3. Would you like a copy of it? Dear Annette and other Listers! Thanks a million, Annette, f0r your wonderful message! You have apparently found another newspaper site which can be useful and which seems to be entirely free! So, now we know at least where Ranveig lived at the time she died (by the way, it was 1937!), and that seems to be as close as we can get! I have already seen her petition for naturalization, so no need to send that. Thanks again for making the NORWAY List such a great one! Very sincerely yours, Lars E.
