Clark, The National Park Service's Civil War Soldiers and Sailors System contains an index of the men who served in the Civil War https://www.nps.gov/civilwar/search-soldiers.htm If you find him there, use google or any search engine to search for the unit. There are histories online of many of the units. Fold3.com has most Civil War service records, but they are a subscription site. I don't know if they offer a free trial. I think ancestry.com now owns it. Some libraries offer free access. Annette, Mange takk! Will see what I can find. My past experience with Civil War records is that the info is very limited and, therefore, difficult to determine if I have the RIGHT person. Have a nice day!
