I have for several years tried to figure out what happened to this family after they emigrated in 1864: Christen Olson Dahl, born in Sogndal Co., Norway Jan. 10, 1823, married in Balsfjord, Troms, Norway Nov. 27, 1856 to Martha Marie Johansdotter Hunstad, born in Bodo, Norway May 12, 1834. This couple emigrated from Vik in Sogn in 1864 with four children: * Anna Marie, born in Maalselv, Norway Oct. 26, 1855 * Maren Christine, born in Tromso, Norway May 18, 1857 * Olufine Cecelia, born in Maalselv, Norway Apr. 20, 1860 * Johannes Martinus, born in Vik, Norway Nov. 4, 1862 Christen Olson Dahl had several brothers who emigrated to and lived in Chicago, IL, but despite thorough research I have never been able to find any trace of Christen or his family in Chicago! Now the military records has a card entry which I find kind of «suspicious»: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:939K-F49L-WY This card refers to a soldier named Christian Olson Dahl alias Christian Olson, a Private of Co. D, 2nd Wisconsin Infantry. It refers to a death reported in February of 1909 and a beneficiary from 1896/1897 named Ole C. Dahl, if I have interpreted this correctly? Any suggestions as far as this family and their destiny in America is concerned, will be very much appreciated! Thanks a million in advance! Very sincerity yours, Lars E.
