Finally she could be found in 1900 census <http://digitalarkivet.arkivverket.no/ft/person/pf01037320000407> So now the Norwegian part of the investigation can start Reina -----Oorspronkelijk bericht----- From: Kathi Risch via Sent: Monday, March 23, 2015 9:00 PM To: NORWAY@rootsweb.com Subject: [NOR] Looking for information on Amelia Jacobson Risch Looking for information on Amelia Jacobson Risch I am looking to find more information about my husband’s Norwegian grandmother and if she has any relatives still in Norway. Her name was Amelia Jacobson. She married John Risch in 1909? in Lisbon, North Dakota, according to his obituary. She was reportedly born Feb. 19, 1988 in the Bergen area. A Norwegian relative of mine did some searching, but did not find a birth announcement for her and thinks she was probably born in a surrounding village. Her father’s name was Jacob Jacobson, but no one seems to know what her mother’s name was. She reportedly had some brothers: John, Martin and Olaf that also went to the USA in about 1905, but we think brothers Ludwig and Mons (or Muntz) stayed in Norway or possibly moved to Sweden. This is based on another relative’s research and I cannot confirm. I do know she died September 15, 1941 in Bismarck, North Dakota, of diabetes and is buried in the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Bismarck. The family was very poor. There are no markers on the grandparents graves. We plan to remedy now that we know where they are. Amelia had seven children: Arthur, Elizabeth, Robert, Phillip, Lynn, John Jr. (my husband’s dad) and Jacob. They are all dead. I did contact two of Arthur’s children, but they didn’t know too much. Arthur’s father was reportedly an Arthur (Crowder?). I don’t believe Amelia and Mr. Crowder were married. I am told Mr. Crowder was kicked in the head by a horse and died. I did not find records at Ellis Island as to when Amelia came to USA. I have found conflicting information concerning when she came to the USA, based on the U.S. Census information that I have found. Her husband died Oct. 27, 1960. Any advice that anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated. The family also spent time in Baldwin and Bismarck, North Dakota, and in Butte and Dillon Montana. Mr. Risch was born in Chicago, Illinois.
