I have the following information from the 1875 census about my great grandfather Elias Paulsen, Census year – 1875 Municipality: Ullensaker Municipality #: 0234 Name of domicile: Reierstad nordre Number of persons – 3 Elias Paulsen hf g Gaardbruger, selveir 1829 Ullesndakers Sogn og Pgd Marthe Handsdatter Kone g 1823 Nordre Odalens Anne Iversdatter Pleiebarn ug 1862 Naes Sogn og Pgd Not sure when Marthe died, but Elias and Anne later married, but their first child, Minda, my grandmother, born 12-25-1879 was born before their marriage, but they seem to have been married by the time they immigrated to America in 1881, My sister and I are going to be coming to Norway in June and wonder if the above information about where they lived would be enough information to be able to find their farm. Yup we can locate it... In 1875 this farm was numbered 141f under the old system By 1886 the same bruk (sub-farm) was bruk 10, Restad Nordre of Gard 74, Restad Farmed by Martin Vilhelmsen In the 1910 census I think Adolf Pettersen is farming this "bruk 10" along with 3 and 12 By 1950 the farm is Restad Nordre and is farmed with bruks 5-15 by Jacob Reierstad So, go here to Norgeskart... http://gammel.norgeskart.no//adaptive2/default.aspx?gui=1&lang=2 At the upper left is a search box - Søk Type nordre reierstad and choose the bottom one of the 4 that pop up. The 1875 Census also identifies the Bruker as "141f " under the old numbers, or Gard 74, Bruk 10. The name of the farm is also sometimes written as Restad nordre.
