    1. Re: [NOR] Myrtle Devina Neargarder from Cambridge, WI (born 1914/1915) - who was she?

    3. Dear Listers! I am happy to inform you tonight that a break-through has finally been reached as far as this problem is concerned! The problem has been thoroughly discussed on NORWAY-Heritage since yesterday, and today one of the listers discovered that Myrtle's parents were Maurice and Diana CHRISTIANSON rather than NEARGARDER! Still we don't know why she "pretended" being a Neargarder when she married Philip Phillis at Edgerton, WI in 1943. She MAY of course have been first married to a Neargarder, but her father's last name shouldn't have been changed for that reason! Or maybe the registrar at Janesville, WI just made a mistake when issuing the marriage license... That is the most likely answer... Well, anyway, here is Myrtle's death record from California: Name: Myrtle D Wells [Myrtle D Christenson] Social Security #: 348187037 Gender: Female Birth Date: 6 Oct 1915 Birth Place: Wisconsin Death Date: 4 Jul 1991 Death Place: Humboldt Mother's Maiden Name: Gjerstad Father's Surname: Christenson Thus the problem is more-or-less solved, but her last husband "Mr." Wells is unknown, and I have requested an obituary from California....
