    1. [NOR] Janice (Pederson) Lindaas obituary
    2. C&M Pederson via
    3. Janice Lindaas, 78, of Mayville, North Dakota, died Sunday, 08 March 2015 at Luther Memorial Home in Mayville. Janice Roberta Pederson was born 05 April 1936 to Robert and Josie (Hanson) Pederson of Mayville. Her four sisters and five brothers were raised with a love for music and for each other. On 26 October 1956, she married her high school sweetheart, Elroy Lindaas. Together, they raised seven children while farming northeast of Mayville. Janice had a talent for creating beautiful things. She loved tending her flower gardens. She sewed clothes for her family and also made many beautiful quilts. She crocheted and did oil paintings. She enjoyed ceramics and even had a small ceramic shop. Janice also worked at the Mayville Coast to Coast and Ben Franklin stores for a short time. She was a Sunday school teacher, church choir director, and 4-H leader. She played the piano and had a beautiful soprano voice. Janice sang with friends in a women's group called "Grace Notes." She and Elroy sang together and were in a mixed group called "Jubilation." They hosted barn dances at their farm for many years. Janice adored children and was a kind and nurturing mother and grandmother. Janice was diagnosed with dementia and became a resident of Meadowlark Lane in Luther Memorial Home in Mayville in December 2010. There she was in the care of kind and devoted staff who became a second family to her. Despite her dementia, she continued to carry her love of music with her. Elroy often brought his guitar to the nursing home to sing to and with her. Often when words wouldn't come, she could still sing and harmonize with Elroy. Music had a calming and therapeutic effect on her.
