Richard Engan Hello Jean: The families that I have been researching for six years....Sivertsens, Kristiansens, ended up in Wisconsin, BUT they migrated from Alvdal and Dovre (near Tynset) in the early 1800's. I was told that land became available in the north for them to clear and farm (sort of like homesteading?), and since the land was becoming scarce many, many, many people moved north. I am sure the migration was much higher than hundreds....The source of my information is family in Malselv, Troms (close to Bardu). Don't know if this is entirely correct, but in a few more decades land had become so scarce & living so hard that immigration on to America began. That is my understanding. Regina Severson
