Dear Annette, Mark and other Listers! Thank you very much for your latest comments on the Canuteson - Irgens family and for clearing me up as far as Fredrikka Irgens and her death is concerned. Fredrikka's grandmother Sophie Irgens died in Bergen, Norway Mar. 21, 1881 and was survived by a son Christian Irgens who was a sailor and last known in 1882 to have been "stationed" at Galveston, TX, and then one grandson in Norway and the one granddaughter in Illinois! Apart from that, the names listed in these papers are interesting. I think I have identified the Williamson family as descending from Rasmus Williamson and his wife Guro "Julia" Knutsdotter who emigrated from Markhus in Os in Hordaland some time in the late 1850's. They had children William (1849), Christi(ne) (1851), Knut (1853) and Barbara (1855) all born in Os. But why these Williamsons should be guardians for the little Irgens girl, is another enigma! They were definitely not related to Frederick Irgens, and Anna Brewick's father appears to be Haldor "Henry" Brewick, born in Hjelmeland in Rogaland in 1822 and emigrated in 1846. According to "find-a-grave" Henry is buried in the Oak Mound cemetery at Somonauk, DeKalb Co., IL - dying Apr. 12, 1897! Remaining questions are still: * Who are recorded as Fredrikka Irgens' heirs when she died in 1896? * What became of Ole Canutson, Anna's 2nd husband? * I guess another estate that might be of interest, would be Henry Brewick's estate from DeKalb Co., IL 1897? Thanks again for your wonderful assistance in this matter! Very sincerely yours, Lars E. Did he die prior to all of this? Also, why was Fredricka’s mother trying to get guardianship? She was the mother.
