    3. Here is Peder's baptism in Nes/Flå, Buskerud county. Born 22-4-1904, baptised 12-6 (Peder Kristian) Kildeinformasjon: Buskerud fylke, Flå i Nes, Ministerialbok nr. 12 (1881-1917), Fødte og døpte 1904, side 89. Permanent sidelenke: <http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=913&idx_id=913&uid=ny&idx_side=-96> Permanent bildelenke: <http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:NBN:no-a1450-kb20060104030611.jpg> His parents: Jernbanearb. Olaf Nikolai Paulsen b. 1878 + his wife Oline f(ödt) Kristensen b. 1875. They lived at Flaa (Flå) So in this case the -N- is a middle name and not a patronym. I was wrong about this. Olaf's fathers christian name is -Paul- So the baptism Halvor has found of Olaf Nikolai in Vestre-Aker must be the right one. Vestre-Aker and Oslo are always very difficult to search. So this one we have already. Thanks to Halvor. Now we must try to find a weddingrecord of Olaf and Oline Kind regards Reina -----Oorspronkelijk bericht----- From: nukilik Sent: Tuesday, March 10, 2015 8:58 AM To: annelee50@gmail.com Subject: Re: [NOR] Sletten Hello Annelee, Other listers had already found your familymember See here in 1910 census: <http://digitalarkivet.arkivverket.no/ft/person/pf01036354006236> In 1910 census they lived in Tune, Østfold county. At the farm named: Greåker Peter O Sletten was born in Flaa, Hallingdal. Birthday 22-4-1904 His parents are also mentioned Olaf N Sletten and Oline Kristensen. The -N- stands for his patronym (=fathers christian name) Olaf was born in Vestre Aker and Oline in Gran in Hadeland. Most of the time the 1910 census is accurate. I believe they are the right persons It must be possible to find out more about these persons. Do you have knowledge about Norwegian genealogy, the geography, the patronymic system and the farm-system? I feel a bit insecure how much to explain. In Norway it must be easy to trace them back untill 1865 census. We might find Peders baptismalrecord at the list. Yes I'm looking for information on my family in Norway. My maternal Grandfather is the only Sletten to migrate to Australia so all the Slettens here in Aus are my family. I have a few treasured photo's of my Norwegian family and their names. G'Grandfather Olaf, G'Grandmother Oline (Smested?) not sure of this maiden name, their daughters, Olufine, Hansine, Olga and son Peder Kristian who migrated to Australia around the early 1920's? He would have been around nineteen or early twenties. The only information I have on his birth is in my Mothers very old birthday book noting his birthday as 22 April in Greaker Norway. My Grandfather was a great joker and we always used to laugh at the way he would change his age and birth date over the years. My Norwegian ancestors are the gap in my Family Tree as I've been able to trace my Mothers maternal line and my Fathers maternal and paternal lines back many generations. Many thanks again Anne -----Original Message----- From: nukilik Sent: Monday, March 09, 2015 6:20 PM To: annelee50 ; norway@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [NOR] Sletten Hello Annelee, I have some questions: -Are you looking for information timebackwards in Norway? -Which information do you have already what can be of help -In which timeframe are you looking for information? -Do you have more information f.e. birthyear, emigrationyear. -Census information from Australia? Just "two names" is difficult to search for in such a big country as Norway. 3. Hello Reina and Anne, Many thanks for posting Anne's reply to the list as I was interested in the Sletten family connections. There is quite a lot of information in Australian records about Peder Kristian and his family and descendants but I am not sure where the following Sletten people fit in? SLETTEN Rouald Elviad Jermund - Perth SLETTEN Rouald & Jocelyn - Queensland SLETTEN Halvdan- Victoria as Anne said in her e-mail to Reina: <snip> Grandfather is the only *Sletten* to migrate to Australia so all the Slettens here in Aus are my family. However there are several Sletten who migrated to Australia and settled in various states. There are also Sletten families from Denmark, Edith Isobel Sorensen married into the SLetten family and she died in 1875 in Queensland. I have been indexing "Alien Registrations" here in NSW for years now and it is great to have some confirmed sources including the correct spelling of names and places of origin for those Aliens registered here in Australia. As Cliff & Halvor were quick to answer Anne I didn't bother replying, I was waiting for Anne to supply the list with more information. Ancestry message board had an inquiry from Rouald Sletten in 2002 from Townsville, Queensland is he related to your family Anne? I am hoping if Reina finds the wedding for Olaf and Oline she posts the marriage details to the list. It is always available to check in the list archives for others researching the Sletten name in the future.
