Dear Listers! Do we have any experts on the Civil War among the listers? I have this problem: Christen Nitter Ludvigson Elvethun, born in Hafslo, Norway Oct. 11, 1822, was supposed to take over the home farm, but then he changed his mind and emigrated in 1860, presumably to Spring Prairie, Dane/Columbia Co., WI. The Nitter Family History Book says about him that he enlisted in the Civil War from Wisconsin, but he was killed in action in the Battle of Chickamauga, GA in Sep. of 1863. Then I have another source saying that Christen aka Christian Ludwigson enlisted in 1864, and that he died "of disease" at Madison, IN on Jan. 22, 1865. Can anyone tell me what REALLY happened to "my" Christen Nitter Ludvigson Elvethun? Thank a million in advance for your great assistance in this matter! Very sincerely yours, Lars E. Oyane
