    3. Dear Listers, I just received the following inquiry from a friend in Madison, WI, and I am sure some of you will be able to answer it for me: ~~~~~~~~~~~~ "I stopped by the Genealogical Center and Library and talked to them about general coffee-table style books about Norway. They searched and realized they had nothing like that in the library, but thought they should have some on hand- especially for visitors who may be planning a trip to Norway. They asked me to let them know if I found a good one. So far, I bought a used book on Amazon for $5, and the book has some great pictures, but not much for narrative, or history. So, I’m still looking. The best example I have of the perfect book, is a copy of a book by the National Geographic of the British Isles. It’s a large book of about 400 pages, sectioned off by country and county, with historical and contemporary notes and stories throughout. And, of course, the pictures are wonderful. Unfortunately, the NG hasn’t done one for Norway, yet. Do you know of any books that would fit the bill – especially in English?" ~~~~~~~~~~~~ As an old bookstore owner in Bergen, Norway I should know the answer to this question myself, but I sold my store almost 20 years ago, and I haven't kept up with he literature that has since appeared and is now available on the topic. Thanks a million in advance for any suggestions I can get in this matter! Very sincerely yours, Lars E. Oyane
