I have tracked Olena (Lena or Oline) Christopherson (or Thorson) born 25 Feb 1863 in York, Fillmore county Minnesota and her husband George Swenson (born 19 Nov 1857 in Norway) from their marriage 09 Jan 1881, Canfield, Fillmore county Minnesota to their years in St. Thomas, Pembina county, North Dakota to their final move before 1920 to Los Angeles. George dies in Los Angeles 21 of April 1947 and Lena dies the 7 Sep 1947, also in Los Angeles. We need help in finding where they are buried. Does anyone on the list have any suggestions on finding an obituary for either of them. I have tried Find a Grave but there are so many dead people in Los Angeles that it is hard to find where they are buried? Thanks for any ideas on where they could be! Carol in Kentucky

Probably the only way you'll find the location of burial would be to obtain both death certificates. They each died late enough that the location of burial (and/or the name of the funeral home) is listed on death certificates. Unless you know someone who lives in LA who can go to the county courthouse and look up the info, it would likely be easier to order them via the county (or vital statistics department in Sacramento)..., and specify that you want a photocopy of the original document, not a certified copy, and make sure they know you are looking for the location of burial. Some how I stumbled across alphabetical handwritten records on Family Search and found the pages that have lists of deaths of both Lena and George. I can send a copy to Carol, but if I am reading it correctly, the number is the number of the LA deaths for that time, and not the death certificate number. It does give the date and the number and the volume. This may help in finding the death cert number, maybe??
