    3. Place like Yale were reported in the Victoria Colonist. I did a check at the University of British Columbia index - includes transcribed papers only, but no Charles J. Shaw. If you want to check for yourself try search for Victoria Colonist Indexes, then to UBC site. 3. Dear Doris, Greg, Earl and other Listers! Thank you very much to all of you for your encouraging messages in regard to my SHAW problem! This family has been one of the most frustrating ones I have ever been researching, but I have managed to trace families before which probate courts, whether it be in Norway (one case from the 1910's - later also tried by the Salvation Army!) or in Yankton Co., SD (one case from the 1920's which I solved in part), never did, so I haven't given up quite yet. My philosophy is fairly simple: These people just have to be out there somewhere - we only have to look at "the right place"! I have now written to the Shoshone Co., ID GenWeb Site, i.e. I addressed my inquiry to the main site as well as to the two volunteers listed. My messages to the volunteers immediately bounced back to me as "undeliverable", but hopefully someone at the main site will receive it - and attend to it! I am unable to provide further details about these family members, but we must presume that Karen Kirstine "Christine" died prior to 1900 (since she is nowhere to be found), and I guess the children, born between 1889 and 1892(?), MAY have been raised at some orphanage, or they may have moved with their father back to Canada? I just don't know. Your guesses are just as good as mine! I did at one time "play" with the thought Margaret Shaw had been married in Idaho and found the following "possibilities": * Maggie SHAW - married Jan. 18, 1914 in Adams Co., ID to Amos SHAW * Margrette L. SHAW - married Dec. 3, 1927 in Valley Co., ID to Clifford Marion DOTSON The latter may be somewhat too young, but how about the former? This must be her in the 1930 census for Oroville township, Butte Co., CA: BRAY, Joseph T 37 OR IN OR fruit farm foreman BRAY, Margaret C 35 ID IA IA wife SHAW, Elitha G 15 ID IA ID stepdaughter SHAW, Amos O 9 ID ID ID stepson And here she is in the 1920 census from Tamarack township, Adams Co., ID: SHAW, A. G. 25 IA US US sawmill laborer SHAW, Margaret 26 ID US US wife SHAW, Aletha 4 11/12 ID IA ID daughter SHAW, Stella 3 1/12 ID IA ID daughter Here is her birth record, which reveals she's NOT he one we want: Name: Margarete Catherine Shaw Birth Date: 20 Sep 1893 Birth Place: Parma, Canyon, Idaho, USA Father Name: Ben Shaw Father Age: 27 Father Birth Place: Iowa Mother Name: Catherine Rebecca Bacus Mother Age: 21 Mother Birth Place: Missouri So, back to square #one again... Thanks again to all of you for your interest and great assistance in this matter! Very sincerely yours, Lars E.
