    3. This COULD be the correct Helen in the 1920 census, in Muldoon, Blaine County, Idaho.  She is shown as Helen M Harrison and is 11/12 years old in 19 January 1920 which would match her 10 February 1919 birthdate.  But hard to tell. | Name: | Helen M Harrison | | Event Type: | Census | | Event Year: | 1920 | | Event Place: | Muldoon, Blaine, Idaho, United States | | Gender: | Female | | Age: | 0 | | Marital Status: | Single | | Race: | White | | Race (Original): | White | | Relationship to Head of Household: | Daughter | | Relationship to Head of Household (Original): | Daughter | | Birth Year (Estimated): | 1920 | | Birthplace: | Idaho | | Father's Birthplace: | Missouri | | Mother's Birthplace: | Wisconsin | | Household | Role | Gender | Age | Birthplace | | John R Harrison | Head | M | 38 | Missouri | | Lily M Harrison | Wife | F | 37 | Wisconsin | | Keneth D Harrison | Son | M | 8 | Washington | | Ray E Harrison | Son | M | 2 | Washington | | Helen M Harrison | Daughter | F | 0 | Idaho | From: Gregory Holter via <norway@rootsweb.com> To: Lars E. Lars, After searching for a time for a Helen Mae Bartley born in February 1919 in the US censuses, I was drawing a blank.  Most of the possibilities were born back in the eastern United States, which didn't really make sense to me.  But then I noticed that in the 1940 census in the Sulphur Creek Election District in Lewis County, Washington, there is a Mae Bartley born 1919 married to a Bill Bartley.  It says that she was born in Idaho.  So maybe she was married previously to her marriage with Chester Melheim. Then  I went searching for Bill Bartley and came up with a marriage record on 1 May 1937 in Pacific County, Washington, between a William Reve Bartley and a Helen May Harrison.  The marriage record does not include birth dates or locations. So I wonder if this might be your Helen Mae Bartley.  All of these events occurred in western Washington.  But this is really circumstantial evidence, without some additional information. I checked and there are several Helen Bartleys in the 1930 census born in Idaho, but that census does not give birth month and year so I don't know how to pick her out from the possibilities easily. I have not been able to find any funeral homes in Brinnon, WA, and my contact with nearby funeral homes in Bremerton, WA and other cities in Kitsap Co., WA has been to no avail. What I try to find out, is primarily: * The exact place of Helen's BIRTH? * The exact place of Helen's DEATH? * Year of their DIVORCE? This information would presumably be included in an OBITUARY for her, if one can be found?  Or maybe their DIVORCE is referred in local newspapers? Thanks a million in advance for your great assistance in this matter! Very sincerely yours, Lars E. 3. Dear Jerrald, Greg and other Listers! Thank you very much for your latest messages in regard to Helen Bartley Melheim and her background! I had also seen that Helen Bartley from Virginia referred to by Jerrald, but didn't feel quite comfortable with her, so I was indeed happy when you, Greg, introduced me to Helen Mae Harrison Bartley from the 1940 census for Lewis Co., WA! And I have found proof on ancestry.com she's the one! But first I find that William Kenneth Bartley, born in WA June 20, 1910, died at Pt. Townsend, Jefferson Co., WA Feb. 2, 1973. He is buried in the Laurel Grove cemetery at Pt. Townsend, and find-a-grave refers to his obituary as follows: "Bartley William Kenneth 2/2/1973 2/8/1973 Newsp - Col 4 - can be obtained through Jefferson Co., Hist. Soc." He appears to be buried alone, i.e. no wife is there next to him. Maybe his obituary would also be available online somewhere? Then I tried Helen Mae Harrison, born in Idaho in 1919, on ancestry.com, and here comes up a "Bradley Ann Brown (Barrows) family tree giving Helen Mae's birth and death dates identical to "our" Helen Mae Melheim!! And it appears that she was in 1930 residing with her mother and her 2nd husband Jack Poor at Brinnon, Jefferson Co., WA, thus explaining her connection to that place! What now remains to find out, or to verify, are: * Helen Mae's exact place of birth (Blaine Co., ID?)? * Helen Mae's exact place of death (Brinnon, WA?)? * How many sons/daughters did Helen Mae have by her 1st husband William Bartley? * Years of Helen Mae divorces? (may be hard to find...) Thanks again for your wonderful assistance with this "enigma" which now appears to be ALMOST solved! Very sincerely yours, Lars E. 3. Dear Mark and other Listers! Thank you very much, Mark, for sending me off-list William Kenneth Bartley's obituary, which, as I read it, makes it quite clear he was NOT the William Bartley who married Helen Mae Harrison! So, I went back to my working "booth" and discovered that "our" William Bartley had REVE for a middle name, and I find he was a native of Sulphur Creek, Lewis Co., WA where he lived with Helen Mae in 1940. He was born there on Nov. 27, 1910 as the son of George W. and Evelyn Bartley, both natives of KY! I don't find a death record for this William Bartley, but this fact doesn't change our conclusion as far as Helen Mae's identity is concerned; however, it does mean we still need Helen Mae's obituary after all! So, where can it be found?? Thanks again for your wonderful assistance in this matter! Very sincerely yours, Lars E. Oyane ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ On May 19, 2015, at 4:57 AM, Lars E.
