Does Ancestry have images of the death records? If you can find the Document number, these death certificates are online in FamilySearch. Here’s what the death record looks like: http://marksrelatives.com/images_03/Minnie_Marie_Stafford_Death.jpg <http://marksrelatives.com/images_03/Minnie_Marie_Stafford_Death.jpg> Here’s the collection in FamilySearch. https://familysearch.org/search/collection/2001287 <https://familysearch.org/search/collection/2001287> You need to click the link at the bottom of the page that reads: "Browse through 2,915,415 images”, and then choose the county, then choose the dates. There’s a LOT of images though, so it helps to have the death certificate number. -Mark
Thanks so much for the suggestions and yes I am correcting the date for George's death. I did check if they had included any Document numbers and they seem to be missing. So guess I should make a phone call to LA and see what they charge to make a copy of the death. Thanks for your help... California in general is expensive and slow for death certificates. The Family Search records are broken up into small pieces, and are generally organized by date, so it might not be too hard. There is an index on microfilm, but it doesn't seem to be digitized :-( I looked some, but we are away from home and don't have a great internet connection for downloading images. I think it will be on this film, after image 850. https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1971-29336-1842-34?cc=2001287&wc=SJ5J-FM3:285174601,285382401 Marian On Tue, May 19, 2015 at 9:32 AM, Carol Whitley Larson via < norway@rootsweb.com> wrote: > > Thanks so much for the suggestions and yes I am correcting the date for > George's death.
