Having been married on a military base . . . A wedding on a base would have been performed by a military chaplain (a minister assigned to that base--a big base might have several from different denominations) and would be regulated by and reported to the state or city where the marriage took place. I assume there is also a record kept by the base chapel, just like by any other church. (The base we were married on is now closed, and I have never looked for those chapel records.) Nothing would have been reported back to the home towns. Dear Barbara, Marian and other Listers! Thank you very much for your interesting messages in regard to the marriage record of Robert Donald and Edith. I still believe they were married in St. Paul, MN, but cannot prove it... Could there be a wedding announcement in the local paper? I just found another note saying Robert Donald Walker was in the Marine Corps for a while during WW2 and also after, Can that help find a military record for him? Thanks again for your great assistance with this problem! Very sincerely yours, Lars E. Hi Lars, I would think that every scrap of information is always helpful.:} Try the SSDI. The Veteran Admin might be able to help. Getting information will be no problem - it is where to go to find the correct agency, that would be my problem.:} They can tell you where he was stationed at any time (unless classified). There must be folks on the list who know far more than I. Good luck take care Barbara On 5/15/2015 5:43 PM, Lars E.
