    3. Dear Barbara, Jim, Mark and other listers! Words are just too poor to express the pleasure and gratitude for that wonderful information that you, Mark, have found in just a few hours in regard to Edith Sayers Walker! I am highly impressed! And particularly since her birthdate was so far off! I will forward this information to Edith's daughter! I am convinced she will be just as thrilled as I at this wonderful information! Now only two questions remain: * Where can the marriage of Robert Donald Walker and Edith Sayers have occurred on Nov. 11, 1958. Maybe in St. Paul, MN? The Ramsey Co., MN marriages have not yet been added to the Minnesota Marriage Index, and Ramsey Co., MN is where the daughter was born in 1959! * Then the question about Robert Donald Walker's military engagement. But maybe this will be hard to figure out? I have also been informed that Robert Donald Walker also lived for a while in Eau Claire, WI after he was grown up! Thanks again, Mark! What should I have done without you? Very sincerely yours, Lars E. I have this evening finally managed to obtain contact with a lady whose family background is very "diffuse". Her mother: Edith L. Walker, whose mother's maiden name was Luchier, born in Michigan (or Minnesota? - very often the state references in the California death index of MI and MN have been "mixed"!) Apr. 18, 1927, was killed in a car accident in Los Angeles, CA Dec. 2, 1961. Her husband, Robert Donald, aka Donald Walker (born in Sioux Falls, SD Jan. 22, 1924, raised in Eau Claire, WI, died in Los Angeles, CA Jan. 20 1977) brought the little girl to his sister in San Diego, CA to be raised with her. The daughter, the lady I just talked to, was born in St. Paul, MN in August of 1959, but was eventually adopted by her aunt, and her birth certificate does not show in the MN birth index! She tells me that her father Donald Walker was a military (officer?) residing at St. Paul, MN at the time she was born, but he was "kicked out" due to alcoholism, and then the family shortly thereafter moved to Los Angeles, CA! I have two questions: * Is it possible to find Robert Donald aka Donald Walker in any military records from Minnesota (or elsewhere)? * Is it at all possible to identify the wife, Edith L., whose mother's maiden name was Luchier? Any assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated, both by their daughter as well as by myself! Very sincerely yours, Lars E. Oyane

    3. Hi Lars, I haven't been following the thread intensely so don't know if this could be of help. I noticed that they were married on what is now Veterans Day, formerly called Armistice Day commemorating the signing of the Armistice closing WW I, and since 1954, called Veteran's Day. If he was a service man, they might have wanted to be married on that day and perhaps on a military base. I am not sure about how marriages would have been handled if they took place on the base but, as a guess, I would think they would also be reported to the home towns of the man and woman.
