My father was at sea when the war broke out and I was always under the impression that he was on the trans Atlantic Run & also into Russia. My dad died when I was 17 so at that time in my life and also his it was not spoken about. What I do know is that he joined the Royal Norwegian Navy as a Gunner in late 1941 I have photo's of him at a passing out parade & Xmas party in Canada. Dad joined the M/S "Viva" on the 13/2/1942 don't know the port probably in Canada or USA. Signed off the "Viva" in Sydney Australia 20/11/1942 & then on the S/S "Agnes", after this point all his signing on & off are in Sydney. He arrived back in Sydney on the M/S "Anders Jane" the day the war ended with Japan. Is there some web site that I could find out the information that I"m after?? I'm really interested in his time in the merchant navy. Also is there records at which ports ships docked during the war??
