    3. Hmmm... I found Ragnhild Wick, 43 born Norway, widowed, married at age 23, in the 1930 census for Minneapolis District 116, Hennepin It looks like there are two families living in one house at 2413 Fifteenth Avenue The first family is Harry Strandemo b. ND and his wife, Ruth b. ND and two children Then comes Ragnhild - listed as Sister-in-Law (but to who?) also she emigrated 1904 Because the next line has John Loveseth (transcribed Jobveseth), HEAD, 41, widower married at 26, emigrated 1909 (maybe 1907?) Then two children, Margaret, 12 b. MN and John, 10 b. Hello!. I am trying to find out where Ragnhild Ween was born. I don`t have subscription to ancestry anymore ,but have found much on familysearch.org. >From the census 1940 it shows that she was born in Norway abt 1887 ,and she was living with her husband J.P. Ween (Julius P. Ween) ,born 1858. Julius died 1940 and Ragnhild was his 2nd wife. In 1940 they lived in Saint Louis Park ,Hennepin County ,MN ,and they didn`t have children. But in 1940 it is listed a nephew and a niece living with them ,Helen ,born abt 1915 and John Lovseth ,born abt 1919 both in Minnesota. Helen and John has nothing to do with Julius family ,so they have to be Ragnhild`s relatives somehow. I was able to find out that Helen and John must be the children of John Lovseth born abt 1890 and Lilly born abt 1896 ,also that John Lovseth and Lilly Larsen were married 28 Nov 1914 in Minneapolis ,MN. Since Helen and John are listed as niece and nephew living with Julius and Ragnhild in 1940 ,Ragnhild`s maiden name should be either Lovseth or Larsen. It would be very interesting to find out more about John and Lilly`s family ,so now I wonder if anyone can help me there.....to find out if any of them had a sister named Ragnhild?!. Thanks for any help!. 3. Since Julius first wife Mary died in 1928 he and Ragnhild must have married after that. I don`t remember what the 1930 say about Julius`s family. But this Ragnhild Wick could very well be the same Ragnhild that Julius was married to in 1940. Me too found this John Løvseth who emigrated from Ørlandet ,and was able to find his confirmation in Ørland ,Sør Trøndelag 1904. I found out that he was born 26 Jan 1889 in Vår Frue parish in Trondheim ,and that he was the son of John Hansen Løvset (b abt 1838 in Melhus) and wife Anna Kristine Kristoffersdatter (b abt 1846 in Avaldsnes). John and Anna lived in Ørland in 1900 census ,but then it is no Ragnhild with them. Therefore I think Ragnhild was not the sister of John Lovseth b abt 1889. But who was she her brother-in-law? And was she married to a Mr Wick before she married Julius? -----Opprinnelig melding----- Fra: Cliff Lien [mailto:cjl@interbaun.com] Sendt: 3. april 2015 17:40 Til: Erik Hov; norway@rootsweb.com Emne: Re: [NOR] Ragnhild ,born Norway 1887 ,but where? 3. I don’t know if anyone else saw this, but it I thought it was pretty funny. It doesn’t seem to be anyone one you’re looking for, but it sounds like one of “Today’s Jokes”. When I did a search for Loveseth in the Library of Congress site, this came up; ABUSED IN NORWEIGIAN Why Eskald Loveseth Wants to Secure $6,000. Eskald E. Loveseth has a grievance against Ole P. Hytemyren which he believes is reasonably worth the sum of $6,000, and he wants to recover that amount through the court. The reason for all this is that Eskald and Ole (the printing press will not bear a repetition of the full names) had a quarrel during the progress of which it is alleged Ole said to Eskald, “Du er eu tyv ant,” which translated means. “You are a thieving rascal.” Eskald took that to mean Ole intended to call him a thief and a rascal, and these derogatory statements having been made, according to the complaint, in the presence of several persons, Eskald thinks that he was damaged $3,000 worth thereby. But that was not all. Several months later, Ole, Eskald says, addressed this term to him, couched in the Norwegian language: “Du er en tyv,” meaning “you are a thief.” Ole said that this remark was also made in the presence of several persons who understood the Norwegian language, and by this repetition of an alleged slanderous statement, Eskald says he was damaged $3,000 more. http://tinyurl.com/ls9l7ae
