Dear Linda and Kathy! This information may already be known to you, but just in case...: I notice that "your" Annie Severson is in 1910 listed as 71 years old, widowed, born in Norway, residing in Riverton township, Clay Co., MN with single daughter Sarah (48 MN) and daughter Mollie (40 MN) with 2nd husband Frank Oliver (42 MN) and their son Roy (7 MN). The same lady called Annie Syverson is widowed also i 1905 residing in Riverton township, Clay Co., MN with daughter Serine. In 1900 she is Annie L. Syverson born Aug. 1838 in Norway, emigrated 1851, in Riverton township, Clay Co., MN with husband Ole Syverson born Jan. 1830 in Norway, emigrated 1852. And according to FamilySearch: Ole Severson, aged 76, died in Riverton township, Clay Co., MN on Nov. 22, 1904. So, who was Ole Syverson? I am not too sure that he was a "Sogning". For three reasons: * Riverton township of Clay Co., MN is not a typical "Sogning" settlement area. * Syverson is a name which is rare among Sogning emigrants. In Sogn the original name was Sjurson, which almost without exceptions is "Americanized" by Severson. * I see no "suitable" "candidates" among the emigrants from Sogn! I have done some checking on FamilySearch, and presuming she was born in January of 1828, 1829 or 1830, I see several "good" "candidates": ** Ole Syverson, born Jan. 11, 1830 in Vinger Co., Hedmark - par: Syver Olson and Martha Olsdotter ** Ole Syverson, born Jan. 7, 1829 in Hof Co., Hedmark - par: Syver Hansson and Olea Olsdotter ** Ole Sivertson, born Jan. 1, 1829 in Storen Co., Sor-Trondelag - par: Sivert Olson and Kari Andersdotter ** Ole Sivertson, born Jan, 18, 1830 in Storen Co., Sor-Trondelag - par: Sivert Olson and Olaug Jensdotter ** Ole Sivertson, born Jan. 10, 1830 in Lesja Co., Oppland - par: Sivert Hanson and Marit Johnsdotter ** Ole Syverson, born Jan. 14, 1830 in Lom Co., Oppland - par: Syver Olson and Marie Johannesdotter The only thing that I do NOT like; the 1880 census suggests that Ole and Anna's oldest daughter was Serine (Siri/Sigrid), while the next daughter was named Christine. Since Anna's mother was named Christi, I would expect Ole's mother to be named Siri or Sigrid! Maybe a death certificate or a cemetery marker can be found for Ole Syverson to find his exact date of birth? And maybe his death certificate shows the names of his parents? Hoping these thoughts may bring some result... Very sincerely yours, Lars E.
