Anyone researching in MN will also want to check the Bureau of Land Management records: http://www.glorecords.blm.gov/default.aspx <http://www.glorecords.blm.gov/default.aspx> You may be able to find Land Grants or, more likely, Land Patents. You can actually download images of the original documents from that website. There are four records for Ole Syverson in Clay county: 12/30/1881, 8/15/1884, 6/1/1886, and 7/15/1890. And another record for two parcels of land in Polk county: 10/20/1888. My only worry is which Ole Syverson is this, since there was more than one that has a death record for Clay county.
