With the rest of the "old-timers" from the Norway List, I am so very sorry to hear this awful news. Jon was from Polk Co., MN, as was I (he from the west side, me from the east), so we shared common origins even if we never met (he was also younger than me by some four years). Jon was a very nice person, a fine genealogy researcher, and in the rarefied atmosphere of our little world where minutia in documents means everything, deciphering penmanship becomes an art form, and details can be discussed at length, it doesn't get much better than that. Jon will be missed. Condolences to his family. I remember meeting Jon in the late 90's at the library in Minneapolis in order for him to help me with a brick wall. He was so kind and gracious and did all he could to help-but the wall remains. He was one of a kind. Thank goodness for people like him. Virginia Lindsey
