    3. Lars, By "court owner," it probably would not mean he owned a court of law, since that would imply corruption of the court system. I presume you're getting that from a census, and he would not likely admit to that. Since he later owned a gas station and a filling station (same thing), the "court" may well have been a motel. Sometimes these were called a "motor court." Doris On Fri, Mar 27, 2015 at 4:47 PM, Lars E. 3. Dear Greg, Doris, Thelma and other Listers! Thank you very much for your wonderful messages on this Nitter topic! I agree with you, Doris, we are probably talking about a motel, since 1948 would be to early for a trailer court. It is also kind of early for a motel, but still I think that'll do. I remember as a young lad going with my folks to Voss where a man had opened up one of Norway's very first motels in about 1960. He was a carpenter of trade and had spent years in the United States, where, as he said, motel business was the "big thing". He built about 20 motel units himself, and my parents were his very first guests! Now, that wedding announcement which Thelma found, is also wonderful, and I have identified his wife as: Marjory Lou Shanks, born in Portage, WI Feb. 18, 1925. She died under the name of: Marjy L. Anderson in or near Phoenix, AZ on Sep. 8, 2005, and according to ancestry.com, an obituary was published, maybe at Portage, WI as well as in AZ, but I am unable to bring it up on my computer. Can someone please help me? Thanks again so much for your great assistance in this matter! Very sincerely yours, Lars E.
