I have had no luck finding Johan August Rydeen or Rydén in Sweden where he was born. His naturalization papers states he is from Sweden and Norway so trying your board. I know it is very likely he had a different last name in Sweden/Norway. I have birthdate of 01 Nov 1833 in Smaland, Sweden. He states he arrived to the United States 10 Aug 1858. Are there any Norway records that show him?

Hello Brenda, There are a few surnames Ryden later in time in Norway. -Was Johan August married to a Norwegian? (that might be of help in finding a weddingrecord) -Have there been children left of his family in Norway? -Do you have census information in America or from where he immigrated -What did the naturalization papers mention from Norway (a location?)
