There are several Skaurud families in the Twin Valley area of Minnesota. They are all descendents of John & Martha Skaurud, both of whom came from Norway. John (Olsen) came from the Skaugerud farm near Lena near Lillihammer and originally setteled near Decorah, Iowa. Martha came with her parents and sister and settled there, too. They all attended the Washington Prairie Lutheran Church there. John & Martha married there and all their children were baptized there. They later moved to the Twin Valley area in MN. Some of Martha's sister's descendents are probably still in the Decorah area, although I've not been able to find them. I know the names aren't spelled exactly the same way, but I've seen 'Skaurud" spelled about 8 different ways, so you never know. Happy hunting!
