Dear Lenise and other Listers! Thank you very much, Lenise, for your latest message off list. It is surprising that no obituaries could be found for Charles or Susan Berck in Nebraska, and I can only regret this very much. However, I guess we do have some other options to learn their exact places of death if no death certificates are available: Charles C. Berck died July 22, 1925 Susan Hunt Berck died Oct. 5, 1941 Does anyone know WHERE they are buried? There are numerous family trees on ancestry.com including this couple, but NONE of them show the cemetery! My first guesses would be: * Oak Ridge cemetery at Dannebrog, Howard Co., NE where Charles' brother Henry is buried? * Ebenezer cemetery in Howard Co., NE where Charles' parents are buried? Dannebrog has no funeral homes, but maybe one of the Funeral Homes in St. Paul, NE conducted the Berck funerals? * Peters Funeral Home - (308)754-5543 * Jacobsen Greenway Funeral Home - (308)754-2122 I would there has to be a record of Charles and/or Susan Berck somewhere between these places? Thanks again for your great assistance in this matter! Very sincerely yours, Lars E. No ,I didn`t have the naturalization or info on Nels Wick`s father`s name Otto. Wonder where Nels might come from other than Norway?. It should make him Nils Ottosen Vik or something.... Anyway ,I did get answer to my question about Ragnhild and her origin!. Thanks so much for that!. It is another person in this family that I also have trouble finding more about though ,also with probable ancestry from Norway ,but it is better taking that in a new thread. -----Opprinnelig melding----- Fra: Annette Bowen [mailto:annette.bowen@gmail.com] Sendt: 4. april 2015 03:04 Til: Erik Hov; norway@rootsweb.com Emne: Re: [NOR] Ragnhild ,born Norway 1887 ,but where? Ween (Julius P. Ween) ,born 1858. Julius died 1940 and Ragnhild was his 2nd wife. In 1940 they lived in Saint Louis Park ,Hennepin County ,MN ,and they didn`t have children. But in 1940 it is listed a nephew and a niece living with them ,Helen ,born abt 1915 and John Lovseth ,born abt 1919 both in Minnesota. Helen and John has nothing to do with Julius family ,so they have to be Ragnhild`s relatives somehow. I was able to find out that Helen and John must be the children of John Lovseth born abt 1890 and Lilly born abt 1896 ,also that John Lovseth and Lilly Larsen were married 28 Nov 1914 in Minneapolis ,MN. Since Helen and John are listed as niece and nephew living with Julius and Ragnhild in 1940 ,Ragnhild`s maiden name should be either Lovseth or Larsen. It would be very interesting to find out more about John and Lilly`s family ,so now I wonder if anyone can help me there.....to find out if any of them had a sister named Ragnhild?!. Dear Kathy and other Listers! Thank you very much, Kathy, for your latest comments on the Myron Morgan/Emma Buehler problem! My informant on Emma was her own daughter Dorothy (born 1914), whom I talked to about 25 years ago. She is the one who told me Emma was born in Taylor Co., WI Nov. 23, 1883 to the parents Christian and Rosina Buehler. What she did NOT know, was when or where her parents were married! She thought Milwaukee, WI, but their marriage license is nowhere to be found in Wisconsin! So, my guess is Northern Illinois, but where exactly, I don't know...! But I keep my fingers well crossed that someone may "spot" them in a newspaper announcement... Thanks again for your great assistance in this matter! Very sincerely yours, Lars E. Hello!. I am trying to find out where Ragnhild Ween was born. I don`t have subscription to ancestry anymore ,but have found much on familysearch.org. >From the census 1940 it shows that she was born in Norway abt 1887 ,and she was living with her husband J.P. Thanks for any help!. Erik in Norway
Maybe not the same Emma Beuhler, because Myron F. and Emma Morgan are on the 1920 census for St Paul, Ramsey county, MN and her parents are listed as being born in Switzerland. They spoke German. > On Apr 3, 2015, at 3:29 PM, Kathy Hines <khines1@qwest.net> wrote: > > Is Emma’s maiden name Buehler or was she married prior to marrying Myron Morgan? Regarding marriages of Wisconsin couples not being found in Wisconsin. One of my cousin's uncles told the story in his memoirs that he and his girlfriend wanted to get married in Kenosha in 1902, had a date set, and plans to move to Nebraska right after the wedding. However, when they went to get their marriage license in Wisconsin they were told they had to wait three days. Desperate because they could not change their travel plans, they asked what they should do. The clerk said "Why don't you go to Waukegan, IL. That's what many couples do" and said that the Wisconsin marriage license was good in Illinois with no delay. So they took the train to Waukegan and told the taxi driver they found at the station their dilemma. He took them promptly to a minister, like he had had that request before. They married immediately and were back in Kenosha only a little bit late for the reception their family had planned. So looking in Illinois for the marriage is definitely a good idea. > > Very sincerely yours, > > Lars E.
