    3. Hello The oldest parish registers from Kristiansand was lost in a fire in 1734. Some inf about burials and some weddings might be found in "Domkirkens regnskapsprotokoller, (Se Bispearkivet 185-187, 1696-1699, 1718-1734, se også Norsk Slektshistorisk Tidsskrift IV, 1934, s. 52-72)." So it will not be easy to find birthinformation in Kristiansand so far back Halvor in Lier Kristiansand Kristiansand ble grunnlagt i 1641. 31.008.1962. I have been told they may have come from Kristiansand but I am not sure. My three relatives were all born in Norway. The births I am looking for are: Birgitte Cathrine von Printzen who married a Captain Peter Helmich who died on 21 Feb 1738 at Fredrickstad. If her death notice from Denmark is correct, then she would have been born around 1692. Friedrich Wilhelm von Printzen was, from his naval records, born in 1697 and he also died in Denmark in 1748. Otto Henrik von Printzen was born in 1701 in Kristiansand and died in 1761 at 60 years of age. I believe his body was interred on 20 November 1761 at Vor Freisers Kirke. Any help would be much appreciatedl. Thank you. Melva Printzen-Maguire

    2. Lars E. Oyane via
    3. Dear Greg, Mark and other Listers! Thank you very much for your messages from yesterday which I have studied with great interest! First of all, Greg, I have today written to Bob Hill about this Sorenson problem, and I can only hope he'll answer me... As far as the references that you, Mark, have provided, there was no August in "my" Sorenson family, and what I have found out about this August, proves he's not part of "our" Sorenson family. And the Andrew Sorenson listed as a brother-in-law of John Nelson, lived at an entirely different time, so he also "falls out". The Anton Sorenson mentioned in the "Seedstock" book, may, however, very well be the son of "our" Andrew Sorenson, only too bad no other details are included in the book! Thanks again for your great assistance in this matter! Very sincerely yours, Lars E. 3. Dear Listers! I am trying to find the destiny of this young man: Mathildus Alexander Johan "Tildus" NELSON born July 22, 1876 in Christiania (Oslo), Norway son of Michael Nelson from Finnaas Co., Norway (1838-1895) and his 1st wife Margretha Nilsdotter from Luster Co., Norway (1837-1884) emigrated with his parents in 1880 to Albert Lea, Freeborn Co., MN Michael Nelson was a baker in Albert Lea, MN until 1893 when he opened up a restaurant in Lake Mills, IA. However, he died in an accident in Albert Lea, MN on July 2, 1895, and his 2nd wife Johanna and the children shortly thereafter moved back to Albert Lea, MN. Mathildus "Tildus" is listed with father and stepmother at Lake Mills, IA in 1895, but is gone by 1900, and we believe he may have died. Any suggestions as to what may have happened to Mathildus "Tildus" Nelson will be more than welcome! Very sincerely yours, Lars E. Oyane

    3. Here’s two more names you mentioned. An Andrew Sorenson is mentioned in a John Nelson’s biography. It’s from the “Alamo, Appam, Corinth, North Dakota : golden jubilee, 1916-1966”. Page 172. It says when he came to America he stayed with his sister and brother in law, Mr. and Mrs. Anrew Sorenson. http://tinyurl.com/n7gx2s2 In 1903 There’s an Anton Sorenson who shows up in the book; “Seedstock : an improper history of early Balfour”. Page 10. He’s third paragraph from the bottom. It says the commissioner was in town to review final proofs (probably for land patents). http://tinyurl.com/m77shja -Mark

The North Dakota State Historical Society has a lot of local historiy books online here: http://www.digitalhorizonsonline.org/cdm/landingpage/collection/ndsl-books I don’t see anyone in this book: Bowbells diamond jubilee and school reunion, 1981 http://tinyurl.com/kcw3oul This sounds promising. 3. Hans, I am 'guessing' that her father's name was ANDREAS HERMANSEN (Kværnhougen Af Veen)... as I found an INGER HERMANS. from Løiten, registered on 09 October 1889, departing Kristiania on the 11th ("http://www.norwayheritage.com/p_route.asp?ro=W35"), on board the ROLLO, which was a coastal steamer between Norway and Hull, England. "http://gda.arkivverket.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&sidenr=58&filnamn=em03011867tillegg&sokpostnr=10&sokefelt=skjul" So, I believe that someone with the resources should be looking for INGE / INGER HERMANSEN age 17(?), arriving in New York sometime after 11 October 1889.
