    3. Dear Mark and other Listers! Thanks a million, Mark, for sending me the newspaper items about John Lee’s death! I am kind of surprised it was published at Forest City, which I understand is in Potter Co., SD. Or should it be Forest City, IA? I don’t know he ever lived in either place… Maybe he was well known around there… John was a single man, but he did have relatives around. Too bad they are not mentioned… But may we hope that some of the other obituaries will also show up to tell more about the family? Thanks again for your great assistance in this matter! The NORWAY list was always the best! Very sincerely yours, Lars E. Oyane ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ > On Apr 21, 2017, at 1:09 PM, Mark Erickson <[email protected]> wrote: > > Here's John T. 3. Hi Linda, If I understand what you want, it is essentially a modified Family Tree Maker program that would be extremely expensive. I don't know anyone who could do it, and I would be cautious about dealing with anyone who says they could do it cheaply. I have never used Family Tree Maker but genealogical programs have to be pretty much the same, with different ways of doing the bells and whistles. I think there might be a good chance you could do what you want within the FTM program. Now this is sort of a nonsensical statement because I really don't know enough about the details of what you want. However, I think I might be able to use the features available within the Ancestral Quest (AQ) program that I use. There may be fields to collect information that you don't use because you have no interest in them, such as Confirmation, Bar Mitzva, Bat Mitzvah, or even Circumcision.along with many others that exist in AQ. There may be a way to change the field name to Died Before 65 of Alz.. If there isn't you can still use the field as you will know what it really contains. AQ has the ability to attach any number of Events to an individual's record. You can add an event to the Event List and define what data to collect for each event. For example, I could add an event "Died Before 65 of Alz" and identify what data I want to collect such as death date, first signs of Alz, who noticed the signs, treatments tried, treatment results, when first tested, who tested, etc. I could then use the Report capability of AQ to define a report giving the names of those who died before 65 and get a listing. Similar events could be defined for whatever you want to know,.tailored to the reports you wish to produce. I hope you get the idea. The more I think about it the more I think it could be solved with adding events and producing tailored reports. You might find someone who is expert on FTM who could help you, but it would probably require some long phone calls to define what you really want. Right now you have a general idea of what you want, but defining the details of exactly what you want will take some time. I hope this is of some use to you. Get back to me with any questions. Neil

    3. Greetings Kneel, and to your wife, my cousin - altho the degree of cousinship I don't think I could figure out. It's nice to hear from you. I had no idea you were more than a decade older than me. I thought we were closer to the same age. I'll contact you off-list about your wife's and my mutual ancestor, Joseph Jenckes (the first of three men with the same name, colonial New England immigrant). I don't remember if I wrote to you about the 1652 Pine Tree Shilling from the Boston time capsule. Our first Joseph Jenckes made the dies for the coin, but that wasn't mentioned among the other info that came out about the contents of the time capsule. I have found a couple of books (copyright expired, downloadable for free) that talk about the first American Jenckes ancestor. He was truly a Renaissance man with his various abilities. For those like Barbara from MA who has colonial ancestors (I'm related to her through our mutual Mayflower ancestor), this is what I'm talking about: http://www.history.com/news/contents-of-boston-time-capsule-buried-by-samuel-adams-and-paul-revere-unveiled I'll double check the info on your web site, but I think I might be able to send you additional info on some. 3. Hi Kneel, I've been relegated to lurking most of the time too but I'll take this time to thank YOU KNEEL for your dedication for everything you have done for all of US in building your database!!!! You are another gift to the genealogy community. Who knew that 20 years ago when Karla started this Norway List or however long it was, us "addicts" would have so much fun together in the same cause. By the time I get my digest mode open, these wonderful people have the quests figured out and I sit back and read the outcome! It is wonderful to see how generous of spirit people in the world still are. I am very grateful for the help I get in here. As I start this new project for the Hardanger Lag, I know I will be a bit of a regular with my need to sort though things. Every time I think of you Kneel, I think of three things. 1. Teaching you to copy and paste over AOL IMs and 2. The fantasy created on the Norway List, though it is vague after all of these years - robe and high heels come to mind...tee hee. 3. Your humongous database and the hours you have spent behind that computer. You have my respect and my gratitude!!! 3. I am trying to find information on the deaths of Michael Alm and his sister Mrs. Margaret Gilbertson. They lived together in St Paul. Both died 26 Feb 1943. I thought there may be some mention in the local newspaper if it was an accident. Any ideas how I may find information? Thanks. Robert Evensen

    1. [NOR] Greetings from Kneel
    2. Neil Hofland
    3. Hi All, I just thought I would let you know I am still here and reading messages every day. I don't post anything because there never seems to be anything I can help with. If any of you are interested in the Inner Sognefjord you might want to take a look at norwayancetors.com. You don't have to sign in as it is open to all. Just click on Surames and start searching, learning, and using the program. You can't hurt anything. Remember all the spelling variations. Each Tree is a separate database. Almost all of the individuals from existing bygdeboks have been entered at least down to the emigrants. Balestrand has only one updated bygdebok so two thirds of the gards in Balestrand are only in the circa 1930's volume written by Laberg. I did the best I could with Laberg (who was a genius) and it is pretty good. The Norum parish in Sogndal doesn't have a bygdebok yet, so the Norum people are missing. Then we have Lars and Luster. I am on page 469 of volume 11 and will finish it in a few months. Then I have to wait for volume 12 that Lars is working on now. Give him all the help you can. His bygdeboks are a remarkable achievement. I am just hoping he finishes volume 12 and the kommune publishes it while I am still alive. :-) (I'm pushing 83.) So, greetings to all. Kneel
