Thank you, Don! right - so far nothing from the List. This Edna was in the 1910 and 1920 Census with her parents, and in 1930 she is not. I didn't see in 1930, if her mother cited 2 of 2 children were alive. My view of that Census didn't reveal that item. If 2 of 2 were alive, one could assume Edna was off to an adventure and / or married. If her mother says 2 children were born to her and 1 is alive, then we know Edna died, whether or not she married, which would have been prior to 1930. Dear Listers, Does any one have Colorado marriage or death certificiates? I"m searching for my grandmother's first cousin, Edna Edwards. I have populated two FindAGrave sites, one for her father, Wilson W. Edwards and one for Edna's sister, Hazel Edwards who married Martin Tanner. Both the parents and the sister are buried at the Fairmount Cemetery in Prowers County, CO, to assist with some facts such as census, etc. Hazel apparently had no offspring so without locating info on Edna I have no way to trace if there are offspring for her. There were only the two children born to Wilson Edwards and wife. Thank you in advance if anyone can give me info to help confirm where Edna lived, if she married, had children, died and is buried. Linda in Alaska PS - Memorial day here in Anchorage is very cool, overcast and drizzling. We'll go to the Park Strip to recognize our military, veterans and those who have died. I have no relatives buried here so I enjoy cemetery visits in other states.
Dear Sarah and other Listers! What a wonderful message I found from you this morning (my time) as I watched my inbox! Thanks a million for having discovered the Hans and Sophie Sandvik family in Alberta! I am amazed!! Still we cannot ascertain this Hans is really identical to the Hans Henrikson I am looking for, but I notice from his grave stone the birthdate given as Nov. 4, which is only a few days off, and I wonder if he didn’t lie about his age after he went to Canada to be about «same age» as his wife Sophie? This is also «confirmed» from the entry of this family in the 1911 census of Strathcona, «Twp. 48 17 W 4»: SANDVIK, Hans Nov. 1853 Norway im. 1903 farmer SANDVIK, Sophia Sep. 1853 Norway im. 1903 SANDVIK, Henry Mar. 1886 US im. 1903 SANDVIK, Annie Oct. 1888 US im. 1903 JOHNSON, Elizabeth Mar. 1890 US teacher im. 1904 By 1916 Annie was married to Alfred Olaus Bratrud, born in Worth Co., IA July 17, 1886, and they farmed near Victoria, AB. I would guess Hans and Sophie must also have been in the same area at that time…, although Henry Sandvik, the son, is found in 1916 as newly wed in Battleford, SK! In 1929 Henry and Beulah Sandvik appear to be residing at Big Valley, AB, when Beulah and her three children went to Montana for a trip, while Alfred and Annie Bratrud were by 1945 at Batte River, Camrose, AB! With the great selection of local history books from all over Alberta, does there also exist one that has biographical information about this family? Sarah, you mention one Loring Kuhn who sounds like he might be related to this family. Do you have any further details about him or his query? I have seen several family trees on ancestry.com including the Bratrud family, and one of them has identified Anna Gurina’s parents as Hans G. Sandvik and wife Bertha, but that is definitely a different couple! They had a daughter Anna, but they lived in Clinton Co., IA! Thanks again for your great assistance tracing this family! Very sincerely yours, Lars E.
