    1. [NOR] Newspaper notices from Richland and Sauk Cos. - Hunt family?
    2. Lars E. Oyane via
    3. Dear Listers, I am struggling to find some dates on a this particular Hunt family which lived in Richland and Sauk Cos., WI, and my last hope appears to be the discovery of newspaper notices: Here follows a "time table" of the family in question: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ HUNT, George born Nov. 15, 1823 Gilberdyke, Yorkshire emigrated 1850 died Mar. 5, 1911 Ironton, Sauk Co., WI married 1st time about 1855(?) NN, Bridget born .............. 1831 .......... Ireland died ...............1862? Sun Prairie, WI married 2nd time July 2, 1875 Madison, WI LUDWIGSON, Anna Marie "Mary" born July 27, 1831 Elvetun, Hafslo, Norway emigrated 1856 died ........... 1872/1874? Westford, Richland married 3rd time Aug, 15, 1875 Richland Co., WI WESTCOTT, Harriett J. (par.: Stephen and Pauly Westcott) born ............. 1831 Oneida Co., NY died .............. 189? ............ Richland/Sauk/Barron Co., WI married 4th time Nov. 21, 1903 Sauk Co., WI BRIGGS, Harriet Louisa nee Parsons (1st husband Daniel Briggs (1819-1903) was a farmer at Ironton or LaValle, Sauk Co., WI) born Sep. 23, 1827 Cayuga Co., NY died May 15, 1912 ............... Sauk Co., WI(?) or Boone Co., IL(?) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ George Hunt apparently farmed with his 1st wife at Sun Prairie, Dane Co., WI, then from 1866 in Westford township, Richland Co., WI until the early 1890's. Then, after a short period in Barron Co., WI he returned to Ironton, Sauk Co., WI. I imagine probate proceedings may have to be made before George married again, and it is my hope these proceedings may have been announced in a local newspaper? There may also be obituaries available for George and/or one or more of his wives? Any findings of information about this family will be very much appreciated! Thanks a million! Very sincerely yours, Lars E. Oyane

    1. [NOR] Fwd: Herbert Vincent Allen (1918-1999??) - owner of a large publicity company in Chicago, IL - can he be identified?
    2. Lars E. Oyane via
    3. Dear Thelma and other Listers! I am happy to inform you that Vince Allen answered my e-mail, and I have just talked to him on the phone! He was able to update me quite well on the family, and for once he could tell me his father Vince Sr. is still very much alive, in North Carolina! He is 96! One story Vince told me, which would qualify for "Ole and Lena": Old Ludwig Nitter always told his grandchildren he was the only Norwegian to be chased out of the navy in WW1. And why, would the grandchildren ask? Well, you know, I came on a submarine, and I always insisted on sleeping with the window open...! Thanks again for helping me out with this family! Very sincerely yours, Lars E. Oyane ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Begin forwarded message: > From: "Lars E. 1. Re: [NOR] Farm place question
    2. Cliff Lien via
    3. Yup we can locate it... In 1875 this farm was numbered 141f under the old system By 1886 the same bruk (sub-farm) was bruk 10, Restad Nordre of Gard 74, Restad Farmed by Martin Vilhelmsen In the 1910 census I think Adolf Pettersen is farming this "bruk 10" along with 3 and 12 By 1950 the farm is Restad Nordre and is farmed with bruks 5-15 by Jacob Reierstad So, go here to Norgeskart... http://gammel.norgeskart.no//adaptive2/default.aspx?gui=1&lang=2 At the upper left is a search box - Søk Type nordre reierstad and choose the bottom one of the 4 that pop up. A box pops up over the map - click on the top choice of the farm name and the map will zoom there. Use the x to close the box over the map. In Google Maps - Try searching for Svein Martin Reierstad and choose the Reierstad Motor choice His address is Gard 74 bruk 5, so that's your contact for sure... Your farm is near Kløfta, just south of Highway E16 Cliff Lien Alberta, Canada cjl@interbaun.com -----Original Message----- From: Sid & Nadine Snider via Sent: Saturday, March 28, 2015 8:52 AM To: Norway Subject: [NOR] Farm place question I have the following information from the 1875 census about my great grandfather Elias Paulsen, Census year – 1875 Municipality: Ullensaker Municipality #: 0234 Name of domicile: Reierstad nordre Number of persons – 3 Elias Paulsen hf g Gaardbruger, selveir 1829 Ullesndakers Sogn og Pgd Marthe Handsdatter Kone g 1823 Nordre Odalens Anne Iversdatter Pleiebarn ug 1862 Naes Sogn og Pgd Not sure when Marthe died, but Elias and Anne later married, but their first child, Minda, my grandmother, born 12-25-1879 was born before their marriage, but they seem to have been married by the time they immigrated to America in 1881, My sister and I are going to be coming to Norway in June and wonder if the above information about where they lived would be enough information to be able to find their farm.
