Melva, Oberst (Colonel) Herman Friderich von Boynenbourg commanded the 2nd Gevorbne (Volunteer) Infantry Regiment in 1690 (see ( https://media.digitalarkivet.no/ru10071210040019 ). If your ancestor is an officer, you can look up the officers serving under Oberst Boynenbourg from 1688 - 1692 at that link. From there you might look in Olai Ovenstad: Militærbiografier Den norske hærs officerer 1628-1814 . If your man was enlisted… Until the end of the Dano-Norwegian period (ending after the Napoleonic Wars so ~1800) the regular Dano-Norwegian army in Norway was based on the "legd" system in which municipalities provided companies for the army. One to four farms (depending on farm size & time period) were grouped together & required to provide a soldier for the army. These soldiers would serve on behalf of those farms in the army. Military service brought with it benefits & obligations: · Legd soldiers served in companies named for the municipality in which the farm was located. · Soldiers drilled near the church on Sundays after the weekly service. · During times of peace the soldiers lived on the "legd," (one of the sponsoring farms) which, as required by law, provided the soldier with a place to live and work. · Expenses related to equipment & uniform were covered by the state. · In the event of war, the legd soldiers were called up to active duty. Although Norway anticipated a Swedish invasion, 1690 was a peace period, so the legd soldiers can be found at farms spread throughout their various home municipalities. For example the soldiers in the Waage Company of the Oplandske Nasj. Inf. Regt. can all be found on farms in Waage (Vågå), Opland. So, continuing the example, you can find your legd soldier from Opland listed at https://media.digitalarkivet.no/db/contents/51354 . This approach works well for most any legd soldier. A core part of the Norwegian Army in the 1690s consisted of these conscripted legd soldiers, but the ancestor you seek, if he was in “Boynenbourg's regiment," served in a gevorbne regiment! So one needs to say a few words about gevorbne… “Gevorbne" soldiers enlisted voluntarily and committed to serve for a set number of years. The conscripted legd farmer-army was supplemented by “gevorbne" regiments which included Infantry, Dragoon, and Cavalry regiments. They manned garrisons and staffed fortresses in key areas along the Swedish & coastal borders. Unfortunately the gevorbne units don’t have a convenient tie to municipalities/farms that a legd unit does. You can look for them along the Swedish border (e.g., Kongsvinger & Fredrikstad) or at fortified locations away from the border (e.g., Akershus & Bergenhus). Sorry, you’ll need further research is required to figure out where Oberst Boynenbourg’s Volunteer Infantry Regiment was stationed in 1690. Best of luck! The younges sister Elen Julianne Olsdtr Oldervik b Sep 14th 1881 also emigrated to the USA in 1908 and married Otto Aune b 1877 in Overhalla, but her I have found as well as her husband. I don't think she had any children. One sister remained with their parents in Norway and her marriage and children I have. The children's parents were Ole Ingebrigtsen Furre and Hanna Caroline Andreasdtr Engene. It is the children who emigarted I am trying to find, but so far no luck. Andreas Konrad Engen (Oldervik) b dec 24th 1864, emigrated March 14th 1886 to Laramie, Wyoming, When he emigrated his name was listed as Andreas Ols. Aaldervig. He was married to a sweedish lady and had 2 children. He did very well with buying and developing forestparts. He became pretty wealthy and needed a safe place to invest his money, and had a bankmanager he trusted, but who ufortuneately was a dishonest man and his whole fortune was lost. He startged again with forests and build a new fortune. He also participated in churchlife and was titulated as churchminister. He was also a good shooter and traveled around and had displays. After a while he could call himself world champion in pigeon shooting. Julie Malena Olsdtr (Oldervik) b July 1st 1867. She emigrated Oct 25th 1920 and she was married to a Sweedish man. Iver Engelberth Olsen (Oldervik) b April 2nd 1870. He emigrated Aprfil 18th 1888 to Laramie, Wyoming. He was married and had many children. Hans Kristian Olsen (Oldervik) He was born in Jan 11th 1875 and emigrated April 24th 1907 to Laramie, Wyoming and he was unmarried. He run the forest business together with his brother. He also became well off Helmer Oluf Olsen (Oldervik) b Sep 29th 1878 and he emigrated Jan 11th 1899 to Laramie, Wyoming. He was in an accident in a stable and died. The younges sister Elen Julianne Olsdtr Oldervik b Sep 14th 1881 also emigrated to the USA in 1908 and married Otto Aune b 1877 in Overhalla, but her I have found as well as her husband. I don't think she had any children. One sister remained with their parents in Norway and her marriage and children I have. The children's parents were Ole Ingebrigtsen Furre and Hanna Caroline Andreasdtr Engene. It is the children who emigarted I am trying to find, but so far no luck. Mvh Anne Hildrum

This request is because I'm working with some families who have the early onset gene and thus get Alzheimer's at a young age. In part, I'm creating a visual one-page report showing several generations, and flagging those with the gene, indicating dates of birth and death for those who have the gene / disease / and will likely die very young of Alz. Does any one know of a computer software that could do this? I need not only a visual chat but also a variety of icons so that I can demonstrate both those with the gene, and those who died without the medical confirmation of the cause, going back to perhaps 1700 or so. Garth -- I cannot find the way in the Control Panel in Win10, after the last update, but in doing a search, I found this. Maybe it will help, but I am not sure if Win10 works the same way --- 1. Right-click the file or folder icon. 2. Remove the check mark by the Read Only item in the file’s Properties dialog box. The attributes are found at the bottom of the General tab. 3. Click OK. I use PAF and recently updated to Windows 10. After the update my PAF seemed to be gone, so I bought another copy off ebay and installed it. I can now access my PAF files for viewing but I can’t add to them or edit them, when I open the I get the message, “This file cannot be opened for read-write access.” Is there any way to change this so that I can continue to add and edit information? I highly recommend this film as a way of seeing what a family faced at home i Sweden, on its at sea voyage and homesteading in Chisago, Minnesota. Excellent performances by Max Von Sydow and Liv Ulman. It is 4+ hours long so plan to view it over two or more days. I borrowed it from the local library in Tucson. The film implied that it was based on the story of a real family headed by Karl Oscar Nilsson. It is an old film and likely that many of you have already seen it. Norman Johnsen

I have found military records which show my ancestor was in this Regiment in 1690. I am hoping that once I know where he was living, I might be able to find his children's birth records.
