    1. Re: [NORTON] Lew Wallace Norton-Kansas-Iowa
    2. Hello, I have read your post regarding Lew and Emma Norton and found it to be so very interesting because there are many similarities in names and places for my own Norton family that I am researching but, yet, some discrepancies as you will see. Let me tell you about my Norton family: My grandfather was Charles Henry Norton b, 1865 in Rowley, Buchanan County, Iowa. His father was Joseph L. Norton b. 1830 (?) in New York. His mother was Sarah Catherine Kessler who was born in Ohio ( the Cleveland area, I believe). They had seven children: Ruth (Ella) b. 1857, Frederick and Ida (twins b. 1859, LEW b. about 1863 and who married an EMMA, my grandfather, Charles Henry b. 1865, Lillian M who was born about 1868 and Fannie born 1869. This family was shown on the Buchanan County Census for 1860 and 1870 and then I lose them although information from the Buchanan County Iowa Historical Society says that Joseph Norton moved to Kansas (I know not where). So you see , the coincidences of names, Joseph, Lew and Emma, and places Ohio, Iowa and Kansas are most interesting. My grandfather, Charles Henry Norton , eventually settled in Southern California and as I child I remember the names of Uncle Lew and Aunt Emma but that has been over 60 years ago and I do not remember if they lived in that area at that time or not.
