Bob, Scott and everyone concerned with the early SC NORTONS: I realize your WILLIAM NORTON died too early to be the father of my ancestor, but possibly there is some connection, if any of these names sound familiar. You may be bored with my inquiries by now, I am stuck trying to find the parents of my ancestor, Dr. Samuel Edwin Norton (b 1816 somewhere in SC possibly Williamsburg or Georgetown Count d.1 Oct 1877 in Gainesville, FL. ...ALSO with conections in CENTRAL SC . He was a medical doctor who received his degree from what is now the University of Pennsylvania medical school. I do know the names of his older siblings, but he was about 2 years old when he was orphaned and raised by "relatives." Older siblings in this order, I believe: KATHERINE NORTON m. a MANN ANNE NORTON m. LEE RENTZ (and had a daughter named MARIA who married a LEE HONOUR) WILLIAM JACKSON NORTON (we don't know who he may have married...was rumored to have something to do with a ship and Baltimore, Maryland. Any help you can give me would be appreciated. As far as I know, the family was not Quaker, but Episcopalian. However, there could have been some Quaker connections in Philadelphia and nearby Delaware/Maryland. (the medical school had a record of SAMUEL EDWIN NORTON but gave no clues....) Thanks so much, Carole (granddaughter of ELDRIDGE GREENWOOD NORTON)
