Farthest back I can go is to a James Norton, md to Charry (Charity) Davis, lived on Long Island in Patchogue/Brookhaven area. Have names/birthdates of all of their children - some sketchy info that some of the Norton's lived across LI Sound in CT and were sailors, that they may have come from the Salem/Gloucester area of Mass. Same family?
