My 4th great grandmother was Mercy Norton Chalker, wife of James Chalker. This couple left Connecticut in 1805 and ended up in Southington, Trumbull County, Ohio. They, along with Luke Viets were first settlers here. This line is as follows from Mercy backwards: Mercy Norton, Freegrace Norton, Freegrace Norton, Freegrace Norton, Capt.George Norton, George Norton, Thomas Norton. Has anyone been able to determine beyond Thomas Norton where this Norton line began? There is much discrepancy in the pedigrees on the web. Birthdates and families seem to be terribly scrambled.
