For those unaware of it, there is a website that can supply info for records on all of the American wars, including the Pension applications for these wars. There is also a link to a Civil War database which is searchable by a soldiers name, that can supply you needed info as to a soldiers unit and rank, ect. The site also gives you direct links to the required NARA sites for request forms to order the Pension files. These forms come within a few days of the request and I have found this site invaluable in finding records on soldiers and sailors of all nationalities and think it can be very helpful to those looking for this type of information.
