A native and lifelong resident of Madison County, Buddy was the son of Troy Norton of Marshall and Kathy Tipton Johnson of Marshall. He was loved greatly by his whole family and all of his friends. Buddy was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Quenton Norton and a brother, J.R. "Dood" Metcalf. Surviving, in addition to his parents, are his stepmother, Iva Glen Metcalf; stepfather, Eddie Johnson; maternal grandmother, Barbara Lee of Greeneville, Tenn.; paternal grandmother, Pearl Norton of Mars Hill; sisters, Sandra Shetley and her husband, Gary Shetley, of Marshall and Candy Metcalf of Hot Springs; brother-in-law, James Shetley; brothers, Brandon Johnson of Marshall and Terry Metcalf and his wife, Leslie, of Greeneville, Tenn.; aunts, Susie Murr and Peggy Shelton; uncle, Freddie Franklin; nieces, Amanda Woody, Vanessa Coffey, Keisha Metcalf and Heather Metcalf; nephews, Eric Metcalf, Austin Fender and Little Terry Metcalf; great-nephew, Bryson Woody; special cousins, Scotty Shelton and Tommy Shelton; friends, Clinton Brooks, Robbie Woods, Duane Fowler, James Ross Shelton, Angie Cutshall and Shelly Chandler. The funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Madison Funeral Home. The Rev. Jimmy Dean Hensley will officiate. Interment will follow in Joe Tweed Cemetery. Tim Buckner, Kenneth Gosnell, Phillip Gardner, Charlie Willet, Jimmy Rigsby, Jeff Rigsby and Robert Woody will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
